    • A piston (11) in a compressor reciprocates between a top dead centre and a bottom dead centre in a cylinder bore (2a) via a driving body (9) mounted on a rotating shaft (6) in a crank chamber (5) in association with the rotation of the rotating shaft (6). The piston has an external circumferential surface that is in sliding contact with an internal circumferential surface of the cylinder bore (2a). Grooves (17; 44; 46) extending in the axial direction (S) of the piston (11) are formed in the external circumferential surface of the piston (11). Lubricant adhering to the internal circumferential surface of the cylinder bore (2a) is collected into the grooves (17; 44; 46) in association with the reciprocating movement of the piston (11), and when the grooves (17; 44; 46) are exposed from the inside of the cylinder bore (2a) to the inside of the crank chamber (5), lubricant in the grooves (17; 44; 46) is supplied into the crank chamber (5). The driving body (9) and the like in the crank chamber (5) are lubricated by means of this lubricant.

    • A housing (5) has a refrigerant gas suction chamber (6) at its center and a refrigerant gas discharge chamber (7) at its peripheral portion. A valve plate (4) between a cylinder block (1) and the housing (5) has a plurality of intake ports (4a) for allowing a plurality of cylinder bores (1a) of the cylinder block (1) to communicate with the suction chamber (6), and an intake valve (8a) capable of opening these intake ports (4a). The valve plate (4) has a plurality of discharge ports (4b) for allowing the cylinder bores (1a) to communicate with the discharge chamber (7) and a discharge valve (9a) capable of opening the discharge ports (4b). A piston (19) is accommodated in the cylinder bores (1a) in such a manner as to be capable of reciprocation. The refrigerant gas is sucked into the cylinder bores (1a) from the suction chamber (6) through the intake valve (8a) and the intake ports (4a) with the reciprocation of the piston. The refrigerant gas is compressed inside the cylinder bore (1a) and is discharged into the discharge chamber (7) through the discharge valve (9a) and the discharge ports (4b). A plurality of shield members (22) are so disposed inside the discharge chamber as to correspond to the discharge valves, respectively, so that the refrigerant gas discharged via an arbitrary one of a plurality of discharge ports (4b) flows while bypassing the discharge valves (9a) corresponding to the other discharge ports.
