摘要： A pluralirty of light sources is mounted on a housing of an interactive user device. The sources are spaced from each other in a defined spatial relationship, for example in a linear configuration. At least one light sensor is also positioned at the surface of the housing. The light sensor senses light that is reflected from an object placed by the user, such as the user's finger, within in an area of the light generated by the light sources. A processor in teh user device can recognize the sensed reflected light as a user input command correlated with a predefined operation and respond accordingly to implement the operation.

摘要： A user interface combines the use of capacitive sensors (20) with tactile sensors (22) in an input device (18). When a user places a finger near a key (16a-d, 17), a capacitive sensor causes the display (14) to display temporarily an indication of the key function in an enlarged format. The user may then press the associated key to activate the desired function. In one exemplary embodiment, the capacitive sensor fixes the functionality to the function indicated in the display. A tactile input applied to any key, whether the correct key, multiple keys, or single incorrect key, results in activating the function indicated in the display as a result of the capacitive input.
