    • The invention pertains to a process for the manufacture of a perfluorovinylether by hydrodehalogenation of a halofluoroether (HFE) having general formula (I-A) or (I-B): R f O-CR f 'X-CR f ''R f '''X' (I-A) wherein R f represents a C 1 -C 6 perfluoro(oxy)alkyl group; R f ', R f " and R f "' equal or different from each other, independently represent fluorine atoms or C 1 -C 5 perfluoro(oxy)alkyl groups; X and X', equal or different from each other, are independently chosen among Cl, Br or I; formula (I-B); wherein R f * and R f *', equal or different from each other, independently represent fluorine atoms or C 1 -C 3 perfluoro(oxy)alkyl groups; Y 1 and Y 2 , equal or different from each other, independently represent fluorine atoms or C 1 -C 3 perfluoroalkyl groups; X and X' are as above defined; said process comprising contacting said halofluoroether (HFE) with hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst comprising at least one transition metal of group VIII B at a temperature of at most 340°C.

    • This invention pertains to a novel process for the manufacture of a perfluorooxycarboxylate of formula (I): R f O-CF 2 CF 2 -O-CF 2 -COOX a (I) wherein R f is a perfluoro(oxy)alkyl group, and Xa is H, a monovalent metal or an ammonium group of formula NR N 4 , with R N , equal or different at each occurrence, being H or a C 1-6 hydrocarbon group, said process comprising: (A) reacting a perfluorovinylether of formula R f -O-CF=CF 2 with an ethylene glycol derivative selected among ethylene glycol (HO-CH 2 CH 2 -OH), glycolic acid (HO-CH 2 -COOH), glycolaldheyde (HO-CH 2 -CHO) and protected derivatives thereof, so as to yield the corresponding addition product of formula R f -O-CFH-CF 2 -O-CH 2 -E, with R f having the same meaning as above detailed, and E being selected among -CH 2 OH, -COOH and -CHO; (B) optionally protecting functional group E with suitable chemistry; (C) fluorinating said (protected) addition product to yield the corresponding perfluorinated addition product; (D) optionally deprotecting said perfluorinated addition product to yield corresponding acyl fluoride of formula R f -O-CF 2 -CF 2 -O-CF 2 -C(O)F; (E) hydrolyzing and, optionally, neutralizing, said acyl fluoride for yielding the perfluorooxycarboxylate of formula (I).
