    • The invention relates to a method for establishing a data connection and to a method for transmitting data or data packets without interruption from a mobile communications unit (MN) via a tunnel server (TS) with a public internet protocol (IP) address to different networks or communications components (CN) located therein. Data, which should be sent to an internet server serving as an example of a communications component, are sent in a tunnel to the tunnel server using a public IP address. Either UDP or TCP packets can be used as the tunnel. The tunnel server unpacks the packets and forwards them to the target computer after it has registered its own IP address as the sender. Packets that should be sent to the mobile communications unit are thus addressed to the tunnel server. When data arrives at the tunnel server, they are packed and forwarded to the current IP address of the mobile communications unit. The communications unit eliminates the tunnel and transfers the data to the application.
