    • The present invention provides an improved stent delivery catheter. The stent delivery system comprises a catheter having a stent receiving portion adapted to receive a stent (35) near the distal end (25) of the catheter and a stent (35) concentrically arranged around the catheter within the stent receiving portion. The stent delivery system further comprises a proximal outer sheath (10), a retractable distal sheath (40) surrounding at least a portion of the stent (35) and containing the stent in its reduced delivery configuration and a pull back means (45) connected (46) to the retractable distal sheath (40, 48). The system further comprises an arrangement wherein the retractable sheath (48) is pulled into the catheter (49) when the pull back means is pulled proximally and the distal sheath is retracted, freeing the stent for delivery.

    • The present invention provides a lumen support device (10), or stent, used to open or expand a body lumen. The stent (10) incorporates elongated parallel stent components (23) with circumferential members (20), fingers, which weave into paired slots (30) of an adjacent stent component. This weave-like interlocking configuration enables the stent (10) to expand radially without yielding or plastically deforming the material of which the stent is fabricated. The weave-like mechanism allows for uniform, smooth expansion without change in longitudinal dimensions for the complete assembly. Once assembled, the plurality of parallel elongated stent components form a cylindrical configuration.

    • Balloons for medical devices, particularly balloon angioplasty catheters, are made from particular block copolymer thermoplastic elastomers in which the block copolymer is made up of hard segments of a polyester or polyamide and soft segments of polyether; the polyester hard segments are polyesters of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and a C2-C4 diol; the polyamide hard segments are polyamides of C6 or higher carboxylic acids and C6 or higher organic diamines or of C6 or higher aliphatic omega -amino- alpha -acids, and the polyether soft segments are polyethers of C2-C10, diols; the block copolymer has a low flexural modulus, namely less than 150,000 psi; the block copolymer has a hardness, Shore D scale, of greater than 60; and the percentage by weight of the block polymer attributable to the hard segments is between about 50 % and about 95 %. The polymers provide high strength, thin wall, compliant and semi-compliant balloons, which leads to a low profile catheter. The low profile catheters have very good initial crossing, good trackability, good recrossing after first inflation.
