    • A computerized system analyzing profiles of biological sample signals created on a gel. The system reads signals from the gel, refine and normalize the signals, quantify the intensity of the signals, organize such gel signal information with other information on the corresponding samples into profiles. The profiles created are stored in a suitable database. A pipeline links the database and the profiling system which allows efficient retrieval and update of the profile data. The computerized system is used to qualitatively and quantitatively characterize the biological states of input samples. Gel signals analyzed include signals of nucleic acids or proteins derived from a plurality of samples.
