    • In known electromagnetically actuated valves with axial fuel feed, the opening stroke of the valve closing element is limited by an annular stop device. If the valve needle is skewed, however, only part of the stop makes contact, and therefore the injected volume is not metered with sufficient accuracy. The new stop device makes it possible to control the opening stroke of the valve closing element whether or not the valve needle is skewed. When the valve is open, the new stop rod (40), which is concentric with the longitudinal axis (4) of the valve, touches the valve closing element (14), thereby limiting its opening stroke. The stop rod (40) is mounted in the flow hole (21) of the core (1) by means of the sliding sleeve (22). The design of the stop device is particularly suited to fuel injection valves.

    • In known solenoid valves with a core (1) surrounded by a magnetic coil (3) and with an armature (30) which acts on a valve closure body by means of a connecting tube (28), the connection between the connecting tube and the hard valve closure body (35) is made by welding or soldering. However, the connection is not always safe and reliable. In the new valve, on the contrary, the metallic valve closure body (35) is first provided with a spot weld (40) which is then welded to the metallically softer connecting tube (28) by a second spot weld (41) until the at least partially surrounding weld seam (39) which ensures a safe and reliable connection is formed between the valve closure body (35) and the connecting tube (28). The configuration of the valve is particularly suitable for injection valves in fuel injection installations.

    • In prior art fuel-injection valves, the valve-needle stroke can be adjusted for example by grinding down one end of the valve-nozzle body or by varying the penetration depth of the valve-seat body inserted in a longitudinal aperture in the valve-seat support and subsequently rigidly secured to the valve-seat support. This method of adjustment is not possible with assembled valves however. If the valve-seat body is pressed into the longitudinal aperture, there is a danger of clip formation. In the new fuel-injection valve, a valve assembly comprising the valve-seat body (18) and the perforated body (22) joined to it is inserted in the longitudinal aperture (3) in the valve-seat support (1) and rigidly secured to it, the depth of insertion determining the initial setting of the valve-needle stroke. Exact adjustment of the needle stroke can be done with the assembled valve by bending the part of the valve located between the points of attachment (24, 30) of the perforated body (22) to the valve-seat support. The fuel-injection valve proposed and the method for its manufacture are particularly suitable for use in fuel-injection systems in mixture compressing spark ignition engines.

    • Prior art fuel injection valves make use of valve needles consisting of a tubular armature, a sleeve-like needle section acting as a connector and a valve closure. The individual components are assembled by material seaming processes, e.g. welding or soldering. The novel fuel injection valve is characterised in that use is made of a valve needle (18), the individual components of which, e.g. the valve needle section (19) and the valve closure (24) are secured together by a non-material seaming process. Ideally there are only pressed joints on the valve needle. The fuel injection valve is especially suitable for use in fuel injection systems of mixture-compressing spark-ignition internal combustion engines.

    • In prior art fuel-injection valves, fuel filters are inserted into the fuel-inlet pipe where they are secured in place. These fuel filters ensure that certain constituants which could, by virtue of their particle size, block or damage the valve are filtered out of the fuel fed to the valve. Foreign bodies inside the valve which originate from components inserted into the valve, from wear of stop surfaces or from production-related burring are not filtered out however, resulting in the danger of blockages or leakage at the valve seat. The valve needle (18) proposed, for a fuel-injection valve for instance, has a filter element (20) integrated in or on it. The function of this filter element (20) is to keep any particles or other impurities inside the valve upstream of the valve seat (30) away from the valve seat (30) and hence avoid blockages or leakage at the valve seat (30). The valve needle proposed is particularly suitable for use in injection valves in fuel-injection systems for mixture-compression external-ignition-combustion engines.
