摘要： A device is disclosed to assist in making a customized intraoral positioning device IPD to be positioned within a mouth of a patient in accordance with a prescribed radiation therapy treatment plan for a head and/or neck of the patient, the prescribed radiation therapy treatment plan including an incisor separation and/or tongue position of the patient, the device comprising: a base unit configured to be positioned between upper and lower arches in the patient's mouth, wherein the base unit includes an arch section for incisor separation in a deployed configuration in the patient's mouth and first and second arms that extending from the arch unit; a handle extending from the base unit to enable a user to grasp the device so that the user may introduce and remove the device from the patient's mouth; and one or more bite blocks configured on the arch section of the base unit so as to increase the height of the arch section in accordance with the incisor separation of the prescribed radiation therapy treatment plan, to thereby enable a user to obtain records of the position for dental and oral structure within the patient's mouth including a relationship between the upper and lower arches at the prescribed incisor separation.

摘要： An intraoral positioning device (IPD) is disclosed. The IPD is to be positioned within a patient's mouth for intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) planning and treatment. The intraoral positioning device comprises: a bite stent having upper and lower sections, the upper section configured to engage an upper oral structure of the patient's mouth and the lower structure configured to engage a lower oral structure of the patient's mouth during IMRT planning and treatment; a tongue displacement stent extending from and fixed to the bite stent, the tongue displacement stent configured to displace the tongue of the patient in a direction with respect to a base of the patient's mouth in accordance with a patient's prescription for IMRT planning and treatment, whereby the patient's tongue is positioned in a motionless state during the IMRT planning and treatment; and a deployment handle extending from and fixed to the bite stent.

摘要： A method and apparatuses are disclosed for registration of the patient's head and oral cavity for radiation therapy treatment of head and neck cancer. The method and apparatuses comprise an intraoral positioning device (IPD) positioned in a patient's mouth. The IPD incorporates fiducials embedded in or on an IPD. The fiducials function as markers for tracking and radiation beam direction. These fiducials may be incorporated manually, using 3D printers, or a combination of both. The fiducials allow better registration of the radiation therapy during treatment and from treatment to treatment, and also allows adaptive adjustment during radiation therapy to minimize the effects of patient movement.

摘要： A shield is disclosed for protecting a user from radiation emitted during X- ray imaging. The shield includes a lead layer for absorbing the radiation. The shield comprises first and second opposing flaps configured to position a first portion of the shield around an upper part of the user's head in a deployed configuration, whereby the portion, a component having first and second ends that are attached to the first and second opposing flaps, respectively, wherein the component is adapted to expand to enable the first portion of the shield to adjust to fit around the upper part of the user's head, and third and fourth opposing flaps configured to position a second portion of the shield around a lower part of the user's head.
