摘要： Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate mitigating a hidden node condition in a wireless mesh network wherein nodes utilize a request-to-send/clear-to- send (RTS/CTS) protocol in conjunction with an asynchronous hybrid automatic repeat request protocol. For instanse, a node may contend for a set of subcarriers by sending an RTS signal over the desired subcarriers, and may receive a CTS signal over the contended subcarriers. wherein the CTS signal indicates which subcarriers the node may transmit data over. If another node has won the contention for a particular subcarrier, requesting node may adjust a power level at which it transmits an RTS or a data packet in order to permit the requesting node to utilize the subcarrier without interfering with the winning node.

摘要： A forward link (FL) RLP and a reverse link (RL) RLP that are different in design are used for data transmission on the forward and reverse links, respectively. The asymmetric RLP designs may be quantified by, e.g., different feedback mechanisms and/or different data transmission mechanisms used for these RLPs. The FL RLP may utilize a negative acknowledgment (NAK)-based feedback mechanism whereas the RL RLP may utilize an acknowledgment (ACK)-based feedback mechanism. The NAK-based FL RLP may transmit each RLP frame once in sequential order and retransmit RLP frames out of sequence when not received correctly. The ACK-based RL RLP may transmit RLP frames in sequential order, one frame at a time until the frame is received correctly or the maximum number of transmissions have been attempted. Timers with adaptive values computed based on actual traffic conditions may be used to facilitate data transmission by the NAK-based FL RLP.

The access points include memory configured to buffer packets received from a network for the access terminal, a processor configured to queue one of the packets for over the air transmission to the access terminal and fragment the data in the queued packet into multiple frames, and a transmitter configured to transmit the framed data over the air to the access terminal. The processor is further configured to maintain an indicator relating to the portion of the data in the queued packet that remains to be transmitted.

The wireless device includes a transceiver configured to communicate with either one of two networks over a wireless medium. Each of the two networks has a different air interface protocol. 摘要： Handoff between a wireless LAN and a cellular communication system is provided. A system is designed to provide nomadic cellular services including voice over I.E.E.E. 802.11. An 802.11 network is used as long as the voice quality is likely to be acceptable. Voice quality is measured and maintained to be at an acceptable level. If voice quality degrades below an acceptable level the design allows seamless call hand-off between the 802.11 and a CDMA 1xRTT network, for example.

摘要： A system and method are provided for a multi-network wireless communications access terminal (AT) to access multi-network coverage. The method registers a multi-network AT in a first communications network. In response to registering with the first network, the AT receives information via the first network that is required for accessing a second communications network (e.g., an IEEE 802.20 or 1xEV-DO network). The AT obtains services accessed via the second network, in response to the access information received via the first network. For example, the second network access information may be system information, channel information, or access point parameters. The AT retains the option of obtaining services accessed via the first network if the second network cannot be accessing the second network.

A first telecommunications device may request to be added to the infosphere by sending a request to a registry server. In some embodiments of the telecommunications system, the registry server may require authorization from a second telecommunications device in the infosphere before adding the first telecommunications device to the infosphere.
