摘要： The disclosure is directed to methods and apparatuses for seamless and efficient wireless handoffs of an access terminal between access points in a communication network. The access points include memory configured to buffer packets received from a network for the access terminal, a processor configured to queue one of the packets for over the air transmission to the access terminal and fragment the data in the queued packet into multiple frames, and a transmitter configured to transmit the framed data over the air to the access terminal. The processor is further configured to maintain an indicator relating to the portion of the data in the queued packet that remains to be transmitted.

摘要： Systems and methods are described that facilitate evaluating conditions of nodes (e.g., access points, access terminals, etc.) in a wireless communication environment to determine a level of disadvantage for a given node relative to other nodes. A first node may receive a resource utilization message (RxRUM) and may determine a level of disadvantage for a node that sent the RxRUM. The first node may then compare its own level of disadvantage to the sending node in order to permit a determination of an appropriate course of action in response to the RxRUM.

摘要： A system and method are provided for the management of user terminal (UT) cellular network services. The method includes: registering a UT in a cellular telephone network; accessing a management server; receiving UT-specific management instructions for cellular network services; and, requesting cellular network services for the UT in response to the UT-specific management instructions. In one aspect, the management server is embedded in the UT. Alternately, the management server is accessed via the cellular network. The UT-specific management instructions can be uploaded in a message received via a common control channel, such as Short Message Service (SMS) message or a paging channel message. 摘要： A wireless device and method of operating the device is disclosed. The wireless device is capable of communicating with multiple networks. The wireless device includes a transceiver configured to communicate with either one of two networks over a wireless medium. Each of the two networks has a different air interface protocol. The wireless device also includes a user interface having a keypad, display, and/or similar devices. A processor in the wireless device may be configured to select either one of the two networks for wireless communications with the transceiver. In at least one embodiment, the processor is configured to communicate with the transceiver using the air interface protocol for the selected network, and communicate with the user interface using a root protocol regardless of the network selected.
