摘要： When a user equipment engaged in mobile communications transfers from a network with one radio access technology (RAT) to another network with a different radio access technology, maintaining continuity of location based services can improve system performance. A user equipment may perform a series of checks when undergoing inter-RAT transfer to determine if a location based services protocol used with the source network is operable on the target network. The UE also determines if location based services sessions are at a point where they can be continued following inter-RAT transfer. Where possible, protocols and sessions are maintained to preserve location based services continuity.

摘要： Techniques for initiating and, if desired, modifying location services for Secure User Plane Location (SUPL) and other location architectures are described. To initiate SUPL service, a SUPL Location Platform (SLP) transmits a SUPL initial session message applicable to any service request to a SUPL enabled terminal (SET) and receives in response the service capabilities of the SET. The SLP selects and requests service from the SET consistent with the service capabilities of the SET. The SET may initiate SUPL service by requesting the service capabilities of the SLP. The SET selects and requests service from the SLP that is consistent with the service capabilities received from the SLP. The SET and SLP communicate to determine a position estimate for the SET. The service may be modified before or while communicating between the SET and the SLP to determine a position estimate for the SET.

A signal received by a terminal is initially identified as being from a repeater. If information for additional delays associated with the identified repeater is available, then the position estimate for the terminal may be derived based on a "compensated" time measurement for the identified repeater (i.e., with the additional delays removed) and time measurements for at least two other transmitters received by the terminal.

摘要： Techniques for supporting location services with roaming are described. A mobile station interacts with a home mobile positioning center (H-MPC) in a home network for location services even when roaming. The mobile station communicates with a visited network for a data session and receives a request for its location. The mobile station sends first information (e.g., SID and NID) indicative of its current network location to the H-MPC. The H-MPC determines a serving mobile positioning center (S-MPC) in the visited network based on the first information. The S-MPC determines a serving position determining entity (S-PDE) in the visited network based on the first information. Depending on the selected positioning method, the H-MPC may receive an S-PDE address or a position estimate of the mobile station from the S-MPC and may forward this information to mobile station. The mobile station may communicate with the S-PDE for positioning using the S-PDE address.

摘要： Techniques for querying for information on location sessions in a user plane location architecture are described. In an aspect, a location server may send a query message to a terminal to query for information on active location sessions, e.g., when at least one location session for periodic triggered service or area event triggered service is deemed to be active. The terminal may return a response message containing a list of session identifiers (IDs) for the active location sessions, parameters for the active location sessions, capabilities of the terminal, etc. The location server may compare the information received from the terminal and information stored at the location server. The location server may terminate each location session deemed to be active at only the terminal or only the location server. The location server may restart or terminate each location session having inconsistent parameters at the terminal and the location server.

摘要： A dual SIM mobile terminal, such as a Dual SIM Dual Active (DSDA) mobile terminal, connects to a network and performs a user plane or control plane positioning session through the network. When the positioning session is originated by the mobile terminal, either SIM card may be used to connect to its associated network. When the positioning session is originated by another entity in the network, either SIM card may be used for the positioning session. When the mobile terminal connects to a network for an emergency call using either SIM card and an emergency positioning session is performed through the network, the emergency positioning session is permitted only during the emergency call and an emergency callback period and permitted only on a subscription on which the emergency call originated, and no non-emergency positioning sessions with either SIM card is permitted during the emergency positioning session or emergency call.
