    • An apparatus, method and system for determining a position of a mobile device based on expected user mobility is presented. Expected user mobility is stored in a public and/or private model, which may be indexed and accessed using a current coarse time and/or a current rough location. The expected user mobility is updated based on historical information from previous visits. The models include grids indexed by coarse time, which is a periodic duration, and/or a rough location. The models provide parameters accumulated over time and location by one or more mobile devices and expected to work best for determining a position estimate.

    • Navigation assistance information for a mobile station is acquired based on a feature descriptor of an image of a visual beacon captured by the mobile station. The navigation assistance information includes locations of neighboring visual beacons, locations of wireless positioning resources; user environmental context information. The navigation assistance information may then be used to assist in navigating within the local environment. The visual beacon may be an artificial feature, such as a QR code or other type of matrix or bar code or a natural feature, such as a statute or architectural detail. The mobile station may request navigation assistance by transmitting the feature descriptor to a server. The server retrieves the navigation assistance information from a database based on the feature descriptor and optionally location information, which may also be provided in the navigation assistance request, and transmits the navigation assistance information to the mobile station.

    • Method, device, computer program product, and apparatus to enable mobile device position optimization and reporting are described. Signals provided by a plurality of base transceiver stations (BTS) are received to determine a BTS-based position of the mobile device. A reference position of the mobile device is determined. A range measurement with respect to a target BTS is determined. In one aspect, one or more unreliable BTSs may be detected and reported based on a positioning measurement quality, a range measurement quality, or combinations thereof. In one aspect, the positioning measurement quality is determined based on a difference between the reference position of the mobile device and the BTS-based position of the mobile device. In one aspect, the range measurement quality is determined based on a difference between a measured range/distance and a reference/expected range/distance.
