    • The present invention relates to methods of fabricating electronic devices such as thin film transistor (TFT) structures using laser ablation for selective patterning. A method of fabricating an organic electronic device, said organic electronic device having a structure including an upper conductive layer and an underlying layer immediately beneath said upper conducting layer and having at least one solution processable semiconducting layer, said upper conducting layer preferably having a thickness of between 10 nm and 200 nm, the method comprising patterning said upper conductive layer of said structure by: laser ablating said upper conductive layer using a pulsed laser to remove regions of upper conductive layer from said underlying layer for said patterning; and wherein said laser ablating uses a single pulse of said laser to substantially completely remove a said region of said upper conductive layer to expose said underlying layer beneath.

    • The present invention relates to a distortion-tolerant method of processing an integrated circuit, incorporating a flexible substrate or a substrate that is susceptible to distortion. In particular, the present invention provides a method of manufacturing an integrated circuit (IC) for driving a flexible display, comprising: depositing a pattern of spatially non-repetitive features in a first layer on a flexible substrate, said pattern of spatially non-repetitive features not substantially regularly repeating in both of two orthogonal directions (x,y) in the plane of the substrate; depositing a pattern of spatially repet it ive features in a second layer on said first layer; aligning said second layer and said first layer so as to allow electrical coupling between said non-repetitive features and said repetitive features, wherein distortion compensation is applied during deposition of said repetitive features to enable said alignment.

An electronic document reading device, the device comprising: an electronic page having at least one display surface; a page support, said page being attached to said page support such that said page is physically tumable; a memory to store at least part of a document to be read; a page driver coupled to said memory, to drive said page display surface to display a first stored portion of said document; a sensing system to sense turning of said page; and an update control system coupled to said sensing system to control update of said display surface with a second stored portion of said document responsive to sensing of said page turning; and wherein said update control system is configured to control said updating such that said updating is at least partially hidden from a viewpoint of a user of the device.
