摘要： A momentum free bearing assembly (400, 600) for use in orthotic and prosthetic devices and a prosthetic knee (100) incorporating the same are disclosed. The bearing assembly (400, 600) includes an engaging ring (422, 622) having a swivel portion (424, 624) received within the engaging ring (422, 622). The engaging ring (422, 622) is received within a bore (320, 720) in a mount. Retainer rings (410, 610) may be placed on either side of the engaging ring (422, 622) within the bore (320, 720) to retain the engaging ring (422, 622) within the mount. Seals (430, 630) having sealing members (434, 634) may be provided on either side of the engaging ring (422, 622) to seal the engaging ring (422, 622) within the mount. A cylindrical rod (310, 710) engages the swivel portion (424, 624) and the seal (430, 630) through bores (436, 636; 426, 626) provided in each of the seal (430, 630) and the swivel portion (424, 624). The ends of the cylindrical rod can be press-fit within bores (220, 820) on a mount and a frame (110) of a prosthetic knee (100).

摘要： An orthotic frame (10) has proximal and distal frame members (110, 120) joined by a knee joint (200), and a foot support (130) joined by an ankle joint (140) to a distal end of the distal frame (120). A knee actuator (300) connected between the proximal and distal frame members (110, 120) has a selective stiffness allowing selection of a relatively rigid stiffness during stance and a relatively flexible stiffness during swing. The stiffness of the knee actuator (300) is selected according to the gait cycle, either mechanically according to dorsal flexion of the ankle joint (140) or electronically according to gait cycle phases recognized based on read sensor data. An ambulatory unit gathers data from sensors located on the orthotic frame (10). Sensor data may be provided to a base unit for diagnostic and biomechanical evaluation, or evaluated by the ambulatory unit to control active components of the orthotic frame (10) according to the recognized gait cycle phases for functional compensation.
