摘要： A variable spreading factor-orthogonal frequency and code division multiplexing (VSF-OFCDM) system and receiver for use therein has a sequence extension remover for removing a predetermined number of chips from the received signal to form a modified signal, and a first converter (19) for converting the modified signal from a serial sequence to a parallel sequence. A despreader (20) is coupled to the first converter (19) for despreading the parallel sequence to derive a group of symbols. An orthogonal transform block (22), such as a Fast Fourier Transform block is coupled to the despreader (20) to transform the symbols from the time domain to the frequency domain. An equalizer block (24) is coupled to the transform block (22) for equalizing the transformed signal to reduce channel distortion. A deinterleaver block (26) is coupled to the equalizer block (24) to form a deinterleaved signal. The deinterleaved signal is then converted from a parallel sequence to a serial sequence by a second converter (28).

The method provided includes generating a channel changing negotiating message including information about at least one frequency channel the ultra-wideband radio communication device intends to change to. The method provided further includes transmitting the channel changing negotiating message to at least one other ultra-wideband radio communication device with which the ultra-wideband radio communication device has an established communication connection in a current frequency channel. According to the method provided, the ultra-wideband radio communication device may receive channel changing negotiating messages from the at least one other ultra-wideband radio communication device, where the channel changing negotiating messages include information about at least one frequency channel the other ultra-wideband radio communication device intends to change to. The ultra-wideband radio communication device may determine whether the ultra-wideband radio communication device is able to change to the at least one frequency channel included in the channel changing negotiating message, and may generate a further channel changing negotiating message including information about at least one frequency channel the ultra-wideband radio communication device intends to change to. The ultra-wideband radio communication device may then transmit the further channel changing negotiating message to the other ultra-wideband radio communication device. After a predetermined interval, the ultra-wideband radio communication device may select, based on a predetermined criterion, the frequency channel to change to, if the ultra-wideband radio communication device is the initiator of the intended change of frequency channel.
