摘要： In mobile communications systems cells overlap. This causes problems when location-based services are provided to subscribers. In order to overcome the problems, a cell list including the serving cell identity and neighbouring cell information of a mobile station is formed (3-5) and the cell list is then compared (3-12) with a predefined service area. On the basis of this comparison it is decided (3-12) whether or not the mobile station is in the service area.

摘要： The invention disclosed here relates to the management of multiple subscriber identities (31) in one and the same mobile station (MS) in a third-generation mobile communication system. The MM layer in a mobile communication network is arranged so as to be divided into at least two parts in the first of which it is managed the common functions of said subscriber identities (31) and in the second part of which it is managed the subscriber-specific functions of the individual subscriber identities (31). Advantageously a common identity is arranged for the subscriber identities (31) so that said individual subscriber identities (31) may be reached through said common identity. The information of the common identity of said subscriber identities (31) is updated in the mobile communication network e.g, in conjounction with a location update. The information of the common identity may also be updated in conjunction with other corresponding functions.

摘要： A cellular radio access network and a location updating in a cordless communications system, in a cellular radio access network (1), which is connected to one or more core networks (2, 3, 4, 5) or services (SP2 to SP5), each of them having a dedicated mobility management. In a cell, identities of all those location areas are broadcast to which said cell belongs. A subscriber terminal (MS) sends to the radio access network only one location updating message irrespective of how many core networks (2, 3, 4, 5) or services (SP2 to SP5) have a simultaneously changing location area at a handover from one cell to another. On the basis of the information contained in the location updating message, the network (1) defines the core networks or services and location areas to which the location updating applies and sends a location updating message informing the new location of the subscriber or the subscriber terminal separately to each defined core network or service.

摘要： The present invention relates to a method of changing a telecommunication channel in a mobile communication system for a given mobile station, which mobile station has a connection in progress, and the connection is provided with a channel on a radio connection between the mobile station and base station system and a telecommunication channel between the base station system and a mobile services switching centre. 摘要： The basic idea of the invention is to separate the location area used in the RAN and the reporting area used when reporting the location of the mobile to the core network. The size of the location area is selected preferably in the RAN based on the services used by the subscriber to optimize the use of radio resources. A reporting area comprises one or a plurality of location areas. The size of a reporting area is selected based on the accuracy of location information needed in the core network. The RAN informs the core network when a subscriber moves out of his current location area. The core network and the radio access network negotiate the size of the reporting area prior to the activation of the service. Additionally, the reporting areas can be renegotiated when the service is in the active state.
