    • A memory card connector has an interior cavity into which a memory card is inserted to a temporary retained position and then to a fully inserted position. The connector includes a n insulating housing having a rear terminal-mounting section at a rear of the cavity. A plurality of terminals are mounted on the terminal-mounting section and have contact portions for engaging contacts on the memory card. A slider is movably mounted on the housing and is engageable with the memory card for movement therewith. The slider is slidable along a side wall of the housing. The slider has a projection engageable in a recess in a side of the memory card. A sheet metal shell covers at least a portion of he insulating housing and includes a cover plate overlying at least a portion of the cavity. A side wall plate depends from the cover plate and overlies at least a portion of the side wall of the housing. A spring structure is stamped and formed out of an opening in the side wall plate and is engageable with the slider to bias the projection of the slider into the recess in the memory card. The spring structure is integral with the side wall plate at opposite edges of the opening.

    • A memory card connector includes an interior cavity for receiving a memory card. An insulating housing has a rear terminal-mounting section and at least one longitudinal side wall section extending forwardly from one end of the rear section. A metal shell covers at least a portion of the insulating housing and includes a cover plate overlying at least a portion of the longitudinal side wall section of the housing An engaging structure includes an engaging projection on one of the cover plate of the metal shell or the top surface of the side wall section of the housing extending into an engaging opening in the other of the cover plate or top surface to prevent relative movement therebetween in a plane generally parallel to the cover plate and top surface. A slight clearance is provided between the engaging projection and the engaging opening to avoid creating residual stresses in the housing.

    • A memory card connector includes an insulative housing having a rear terminal-mounting section which mounts a plurality of terminals having contact portions for engaging appropriate contacts on a memory card. A metal shell is mounted on the housing and combines therewith to define an interior card-receiving cavity formed by a top plate and opposite side plates of the metal shell. The cavity has a front insertion opening to permit insertion and withdrawal of the memory card into and out of the connector. The terminal-mounting section of the housing is located at the rear of the cavity. A card ejector mechanism is located at least partially beneath the cavity adjacent one side thereof, whereby the opposite side plates of the metal shell define the opposite sides of the cavity.

The spring structure is integral with the side wall plate at opposite edges of the opening.

    • A card connector is adapted to receive first and second electronic cards, each having a plurality of contact pads. The second card being wider than the first card. The connector includes an insulative housing with a plurality of first and second terminals mounted therein for engaging respective ones of the contact pads of the electronic cards when the cards are inserted into the connector. A cover member is pivotally mounted on the housing to permit movement of the cover member between an open position at which one of said first and second electronic cards may be inserted and a closed position at which the electronic card inserted into the cover is operatively positioned within the connector. The cover member has first and second sets of positioning members configured to position and hold electronic cards exclusively at the desired location for such card and wherein some of the positioning members of the first set also act as positioning members of the second set.

    • A card connector having a housing with a hollow portion partially formed by a pair of generally parallel extending side walls for exclusively accommodating either a first type of card or a second type of card which each have a plurality of terminal members arranged on one surface along one edge and where the first type of card has a relatively wide width along the edge and the second type of card has a relatively narrow width along the edge. The hollow portion includes a narrow width hollow portion which is located at the inner side of the hollow portion. The narrow width hollow portion carries second connection terminals for connection to the second type of card while the other hollow portion carries first connection terminals for connection to the first type of card. The side walls contain multiple convex portions which interact with convex portions provided on the cards to help assure proper card orientation within the connector. A cover is slidably and rotatably mounted to the housing to cover the upper side of the housing and the accommodated card. The cover includes engaging and lock pieces that interact with engaging and lock parts provided on the sidewalls of the housing to secure the cover in the closed position.
