摘要： An apparatus for closing a vascular wound includes an apparatus that can be threaded over a guidewire into place at or adjacent the wound. The apparatus includes a chamber that encloses a hemostatic material therein. When the apparatus is positioned adjacent the wound as desired, the hemostatic material is deployed from the chamber. Blood contacts the hemostatic material, and blood clotting preferably is facilitated by a hemostatic agent within the material. Thus, the vascular puncture wound is sealed by blood clot formation.

摘要： A system which facilitates the closure of puncture wounds in the vasculature of a patient by helping locate and isolate the site of the puncture wound in the patient. A tube or catheter having an indicator hole for aspirating blood assists in locating the exact site of the wound. A retractor moves the surrounding tissue laterally forming an access path to the wound, and acts as a guide for the wound closure device. The retractor and accessories are preferably used in combination with a surgical clip applicator which delivers clips to the site of the wound, but can also be used with other methods of wound closure such as suturing and stapling.

摘要： An inflatable endoscopic retractor is disclosed for retracting organs and tissues in the body. The inflatable retractor comprises an inflatable balloon configured to retract specific organs and tissues at the site of the endoscopic procedure, with attached inflation and deflation means. The balloon is fabricated using an anatomical model of the abdominal cavity or other areas of the body. This model can be based upon MRI or CT scan images of a patient. In one embodiment, the inflatable balloon has an attached support rib to provide additional strength and rigidity during retraction. In another embodiment, the inflatable balloon has multiple projections, each with an attached support rib, to provide retraction in several directions. A retractor having an endoscopic housing with separate channels is also disclosed which provides retraction as well as the means for inserting a second endoscopic surgical tool.

A hemostatic material is advanced over the surgical implement and into contact with an area of the blood vessel surrounding the wound. The surgical implement is removed. 摘要： A method and apparatus for closing a vascular wound includes a guidewire (58) and/or other surgical implement (32) extending from the wound (w). A sponge-like hemostatic material (80) is advanced over the surgical implement and into contact with an area of the blood vessel (94) surrounding the wound. The surgical implement (32) is removed.
