摘要： A method for requesting an emergency service to a base station and a mobile station using the same are disclosed. During initial network entry, a mobile station may transmit an emergency message to a base station using an emergency Flow Identifier (FID), and receive from the base station information about resources allocated according to a default service flow parameter predefined for the emergency service by the base station. The mobile station may transmit to the base station a ranging request message including an emergency service indicator indicating an emergency service request, and receive from the base station a ranging response message including an emergency FID allocated by the BS as a response to the emergency service request. The emergency FID is the emergency FID received in the ranging response message. If the default service flow parameter is not predefined for the emergency service, the mobile station may establish an emergency service flow by a Dynamic Service Addition (DSA) transaction with the base station.

摘要： A broadband wireless access system and, more particularly, a method for a mobile station and a base station to perform an efficient ranging procedure considering a ranging purpose and a device for performing the same are disclosed herein. A method of a mobile station for performing ranging in a broadband wireless access system, the method includes the steps of transmitting a first ranging preamble code for requesting ranging to a base station through a first ranging opportunity of a first frame, and, when a first message is received from the base station before a timer indicating a limited time point is expired, wherein the first message including a response to the first ranging preamble code is transmitted during the limited time point, determining whether or not the ranging request is successfully made by using the first message.

摘要： A ranging method in a mobile station of a femto system is disclosed. According to the present invention, a femto base station enables non-synchronized ranging channel (NS-RCH) information to be carried on S-SFH SPl. A mobile station receives S-SFH and then determines whether a base station is a femto base station. If the base station is the femto base station, the mobile station is able to perform a periodic ranging using the NS-RCH information within the S-SFH as well as an initial/handover ranging.

摘要： Ranging by a mobile station in a legacy support mode is disclosed. According to embodiments of the present invention, S-SFH information transmitted by a base station in a system operating in FDM based uplink mixed mode is configured in a manner different from that of the FDM based uplink mixed mode. And, a mobile station performs a ranging by interpreting S-SFH differently according to a presence or non-presence of the mixed mode. Therefore, the present invention efficiently manages the ranging of the mobile station and reduces unnecessary signaling overhead.
