    • The present invention provides a cable-type secondary battery which comprises: an electrode assembly that includes a first polar electrode, a second polar electrode, and a separation membrane or an electrolytic layer, wherein the first polar electrode and the second polar electrode are respectively thin and long and have electrode active materials which are applied to a surface of a current collector having a circular, oval or polygonal end that is orthogonal to a lengthwise direction of the electrodes, and the separation membrane or the electrolytic layer is interposed between said first polar electrode and said second polar electrode; and a cover member capable of covering said electrode assembly, and the invention relates to the cable-type secondary battery, in which said cover member has an upper half portion and a lower half portion around the center of the end that is orthogonal to the lengthwise direction of said cable-type secondary battery, and said upper half portion is a thermally conductive cover member and said lower half portion is an insulated cover member.

    • The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a cable type rechargeable battery and to a cable type rechargeable battery manufactured by the same, in which the method comprises the steps of: preparing an electrode assembly which includes an internal current collector, a negative-electrode active material layer, a positive-electrode active material layer, and an electrolyte layer interposed between the negative-electrode active material layer and the positive-electrode active material layer, has a horizontal cross section of a predetermined shape, and is extended in the longitudinal direction; preparing a heat-shrink protective covering by forming an external current collector thin film on the inner surface of a heat-shrink tube; and inserting the electrode assembly into the heat-shrink protective covering and then heating the heat-shrink protective covering to be shrunk, thereby allowing the heat-shrunk protective covering to adhere closely to the outer surface of the electrode assembly. The manufacturing method of the present invention does not require a post-treatment process such as a drying process, thereby simplifying the manufacturing method and enabling continuous processing. In addition, the external current collector is attached inside the heat-shrink tube to increase close adhesion between the active material layer and the external current collector, so that it is possible to prevent deterioration of battery performance.

    • The present invention relates to a cable type rechargeable battery, and more particularly the cable type rechargeable battery comprises: one or more cathodes having a horizontal cross section of a predetermined shape, extending in the length direction and having a first electrolyte layer constituting a pathway for ions formed on the outer surface; one or more anodes having a horizontal cross section of a predetermined shape, and extending in the length direction; a second electrolyte layer which constitutes a pathway for ions and envelops the anode(s) and the cathode(s) alike, which are equally disposed in parallel therein; and a protective covering which is disposed around the second electrolyte layer. The cable type rechargeable battery can freely change shape in that it has a linear structure while at the same time being flexible. Short circuiting (shorting) can be prevented by introducing an additional electrolyte layer into the electrode. The battery rating is high when a plurality of anodes and cathodes are provided, since the contact surface area is increased. Also, it is easy to adjust the electrode capacity balance by adjusting the number of anodes and cathodes.
