摘要： A method for monitoring activity of an animal (2) in a system (1) for housing free walking animals comprising a plurality of animal ID stations, the method comprising the steps of a) recording a first visit of said animal at a first of said animal ID stations, b) recording a subsequent second visit of said animal at a second of said animal ID stations, and c) determining a distance covered by said animal as the distance between said first animal ID station at said first visit and said second animal ID station at said second visit. With such simple means, parts of which are already present in e.g. most robot dairy stables, important information about activity of animals can easily be gathered.

摘要： A method, and milking system, for managing a herd of dairy animals comprising N groups, wherein N ≥ 2, comprises A) determining a content of a substance in the milk for a group of dairy animals, and B) performing an animal-related operation for the group, based on the content of the determined substance, wherein A) comprises: A1) repeating the following steps at least N times: a) performing milkings for the group of dairy animals, wherein an amount of milk is measured, b) performing milkings for at least one other group of dairy animals from the herd, wherein an amount of milk is measured, c) collecting all the milk, the amount of which has been determined in steps a) and b), to form a bulk amount, d) determining a reference content of the substance in the bulk amount of milk using an external measuring device, and A2) determining the content of the substance in the milk of the one group of dairy animals from the amount values measured in steps a) and b), as well as from the reference value, and at a predetermined assumption. This makes it possible to measure specific contents of milk for each group at the dairy farm with only a milk meter and with external reference values, and to take managing measures on the basis thereof.
