    • The invention concerns a method for the modification of cellulose fibres with the aim of increasing the strength properties of the pulp. Cellulose derivative, preferably in the form of CMC, is added in associated with alkali cooking and/or delignification of cellulose chips in a suspension with treatment fluid, in an amount exceeding 2 kg, preferably at least 5-7 kg, per tonne of cellulose. Addition of cellulose derivative to the suspension takes place when the suspension has a concentration of calcium released from the cellulose exceeding 20 mg/l. The conditions required for an efficient deposit of cellulose derivative onto the cellulose fibres can be established in this way, where the natural content of calcium in the wood raw material has been released and contributes to a high ionic strength, while an advantageous high temperature is established. No additional process stages re required and operating costs can be kept low.

    • Process for continuously cooking chemical pulp in a digester system consisting of at least one vessel for impregnating and cooking comprising an inlet into which a mixture of chips and process liquid is fed. The chips are impregnated at a predetermined impregnation temperature T imp , and cooked at a predetermined cooking temperature T cook , after which dissolved pulp is fed out at the outlet of the digester system. Process liquid which is continually extracted is retained outside the digester system during a dwell time, t, of at least 30 min, without any heating above 140°, and thereafter returned to the digester system to a position which is substantially at the same level as the extraction, or downstream thereof, and thereby constitute part of the process liquid in the subsequent treatment zone. The process results in improved tear strength, beatability, bleachability and reduced colour reversion, and increased yield across the digester.

    • The invention concerns a system and a method for the generation of steam in a digester plant for the production of chemical cellulose pulp. The pressure of hot, pressurised black liquor from a digester (4) is reduced in a first step (11 a/11 b) for the formation of sufficient quantities of black liquor steam (BL-ST) that is used for the steam pre-treatment of the chips in a second pre-heating step (2). Pure steam (P-ST) for the steam pre-treatment of the chips in a first pre¬ heating step (1 ) is formed in sufficient quantities through re-heating (13) the black liquor whose pressure has been reduced before a final subsequent pressure reduction, where the increased quantity of black liquor steam is led to a steam converter (14) for the generation of pure steam. This system entails an efficient use of the heat content of the black liquor with simple process equipment, with less problems from clogging, and it generates sufficient quantities of pure and more contaminated steam that is used in a first steam pre-treatment step and a second steam pre-treatment step, respectively. At the same time, an increased dry solids content of the black liquor is achieved through re-heating and repeated reduction in pressure, which reduces the load on the recovery plant.
