    • The present invention provides a method for compressing the video stream with the spatial stratification, firstly, encoding said video stream after drop-sampling to obtain a base stream; then, decoding and rise-sampling said base stream to obtain a reconstructed stream; subtracting the reconstructed stream from said video stream to obtain a residual stream; next, carrying out the edge detection and analysis for said video stream to obtain the gain value of each pixel in the video stream; finally, multiplying said gain value by said residual stream and encoding the obtained result to obtain an enhanced stream. The invention further finely fractionizes the type of each pixel to obtain its corresponding more accurate gain value, thereby further decrease the number of the transmitted data and the transmitting bit rate required by the enhanced layer based on the premise that the quality of mages can be ensured.

    • The invention provides a method and apparatus for encoding and decoding data with error correction. In a data packet of a video stream, important data may be discarded because the total number of errors of important data and normal data exceeds a limit, even though important data itself has no or little error. To avoid that important data is influenced by errors of normal data, a data packet with important data being as information data is generated by the invention, and other data bits in the data packet are filled with non- information data. When decoding the video data stream, non-information data is firstly recovered to the data with no error. Therefore the important data can be error corrected and will not be discarded if the number of errors of important data itself does not exceed a specific error number limit, thereby increasing the error correction ability to the important data.

    • A method and apparatus for spatial layered compression of video stream are disclosed. Reference motion vector is introduced into the compression scheme of the present invention, and according to this reference motion vector, the base layer and enhancement layer may acquire the motion vector of the corresponding frame of image of the video stream, respectively, and thereby to respectively generate a base layer and enhancement layer. The introduced reference motion vector makes the motion estimation about the base layer associated with the motion estimation about the enhancement layer, thereby to reduce the total amount of calculation of the motion estimation about the base layer and enhancement layer. Further, because the reference frame for obtaining the reference motion vector can be obtained from original video sequence and no additional harmful operating is made on the original video sequence, the reference motion vector may better reflect actual motion within the video sequence.
