    • There is provided a system comprising a first logical gateway, a second logical gateway, a source terminal and a destination terminal. The first logical gateway is coupled to at least a first access network, and the second logical gateway is coupled to at least a second access network, where the first and second logical gateways are to communicate over a third network. The source terminal is coupled to the first access network and is in communication with the first logical gateway, and the destination terminal is coupled to the second access network and is in communication with the second logical gateway. Here, the first and second gateways transfer data packets between the source terminal and the destination terminal, and the first and second gateways are further to exchange state information for the source terminal and destination terminal in order to maintain universal connectivity between the source terminal and destination terminal.

    • There is provided a module for implementing handoff and/or quality optimization of a network protocol stack (308). The module is transparent to the network protocol stack (308) and an application (306) using the network protocol stack (308). The module includes session detector (402) and an auxiliary manager (410). The module may furtehr include a request interceptor (404), a request analyzer (406) and controller (408). The session detector (402) detects an original session from a host to a remote host. The auxiliary session manager (410) opens and manages a plurality of auxiliary sessions to support the original session. The request interceptor (404) detects an original request issued by the application, wherein the original request is for retrieving certain content. The request analyzer (406) analyzes the intercepted original request. The controller (408) uses the original session and auxiliary sessions to retrieve the content based on the result of the analysis.

    • Peer to Peer Vehicle Ad Hoc Network is implemented with a distributed P2P model for means of a decentralized model to house data/applications and bonding technologies to reduce collisions, which is extremely high for the accepted VANET standard of 802.11p. The inventive technology provides virtualization of various heterogeneous networks into a single abstract layer of data network, fast soft and hard handoff among various data networks with different link layer characteristics within half RTT plus hardware switching time, a complete load balance of data traffics within and among data networks, optimization of data network resource such as available bandwidths (optimal distributions available resources among the users of networks) with the ability of multi-path unicast for each Internet session, utilization of shortest path algorithm for the ad-hoc access network routing.
