摘要： The present invention pertains to extension arm apparatuses (100, 700) that are adapted to support user devices (116) throughout a range of positions. A given apparatus may include one or more arms (106, 110) that position the user device remotely from a support position. An extension and retraction device (140, 162) such as a gas cylinder is received within each arm (106, 110), and provides a force to support the user device (116) as the arm is placed into.a given position. A variable force clevis (142, 164) is connected to the extension/retraction device within the arm (106, 110). The variable force clevis (142, 164) is connected to a pair of locations in the arm as well. As the arm (106, 110) moves, for instance up or down, the variable force clevis (142, 164) rotates within the arm (106, 110) and dynamically adjusts the force provided by the extension/retraction device (140, 162). Removable and/or pivotable covers (718, 720, 722, 724, 726, 728) are provided for managing cables (716) of the user device (116) attached to the extension arm (700).

摘要： An extension arm apparatus (100) is provided for mounting devices such as flat panel monitors above a workspace. The apparatus (100) includes upper and lower channels (104, 106) connected to a pair of endcaps (102, 108). One endcap (102) may connect to the workspace and the other endcap (108) may connect to an extension arm (110) or to the device to be mounted. At least one of the channels (104, 106) includes a reinforcement structure (120) providing additional support to the apparatus. The reinforcement structure (120) is tapered. A forearm extension (110) may also include a reinforcement structure (214). The endcaps (102, 108) may have interior spacers (194) that provide clearance for the sidewalk (114, 142) of the channels (104, 106), which may be fabricated without parting lines.
