    • A flexible foil-type pressure sensing mat comprises at least one individual pressure sensing element for detecting a pressure acting on the pressure sensing mat, a conductive feed line for electrically connecting the at least one individual pressure sensing element to a control circuit, the conductive feed line having an end forming a first electrode, a conductive check connectable to the control circuit for checking integrity of the feed line, the conductive check line having an end forming a second electrode, and an end-of-line connection, which joins the conductive feed line and the conductive check line at the first and second electrodes, the end of line connection being formed as a resistive connection, the resistive connection comprising a reference resistor in form of a resistive layer, which extends between the first and second electrodes and which at least partially overlaps the first and second electrodes so as to electrically connect the conductive feed line with the conductive check line. One of the first and second electrodes is of essentially circular shape, with a first radius and is substantially surrounded by the other one of the first and second electrodes, the other electrode having essentially the shape of an arc segment of a ring whose inner radius is greater than the first radius. The resistive layer extends between the first and second electrodes generally along at least three radial directions, the at least three radial directions being angularly spaced such that a first direction and a second direction form an angle of less than 180° when seen in a clockwise sense and that the first direction and a third direction form an angle of more than 180° when seen in a clockwise sense.

    • A foil-type switching element comprises a first carrier foil and a second carrier foil arranged at a certain distance from each other by means of a spacer, said spacer comprising at least one recess defining an active area of the switching element.     • A method for manufacturing a sensor mat with active areas interconnected by strips of flexible material comprises the steps of: applying a plurality of primary resistive patches onto a first carrier foil, the resistive patches being associated to the active areas; applying a plurality of secondary resistive patches onto the first carrier foil; measuring a physical quantity on some of the secondary resistive patches, the physical quantity being indicative of quality of application of the primary and secondary resistive patches; assembling the first carrier foil and a second carrier foil having a plurality of electrodes associated to the active areas, thereby forming a foil assembly; cutting out at least one predetermined region of the foil assembly, the at least one region not containing any active area but comprising a part of the secondary resistive patches.
