The protective enclosure comprises a multi-layered protective layer (30) in which a first inorganic layer (32), a first organic layer (34) comprising a getter, a second organic layer (36) free from getter material and a second inorganic layer (38) are stacked in the order named, wherein the first and the second inorganic layer encapsulate the first and the second organic layer.
