    • Disclosed are ionene polymers having antimicrobial activity. "Ionene polymers" as used in this invention are cationic polymers in which a substantial proportion of the atoms providing the positive charge are quaternized nitrogens located in the main polymeric chain or backbone of the polymer rather than in pendant groups. Also disclosed are antimicrobial compositions comprising ionene polymers and methods for treating microbial infections in mammals comprising the step of administering to a mammal, a therapeutically effective amount of at least one antimicrobial composition of the invention.     • The present invention is a buffer tube assembly (2) upon which stock modules may be mounted as part of a modular stock system. The best mode buffer tube features a uniform cheek plate (10) with a track (9) disposed underneath thecheek plate (10) on either side. Rail track (8) is disposed on the underside of buffer tube module (2) and is divided in halfby a longitudinal groove. Interface detents (5) are provided on the sides of buffer tube module (2). Both rail track (8) and detents (5) are provided for interface with adjustable length stock modules. Individual half-rails of the rail track (8) may be angled to improve interface performance with adjustable for length stock modules. A clip hole (13) is provided as a securement means with fixed length stock modules. The invention may also be practiced as a mounting assembly for those firearms (usually air projection type) that do not require a buffer area.

    • The invention is a stock module 12 for a modular stock system for a firearm. The stock module is adapted to receive a mounting module, usually a specially designed buffer tube, in a manner to allow a consistent cheek weld to the weapon, regardless of module type chosen or length adjustment. In its preferred embodiment, the adaptation is accomplished through a receiving cradle 14, which receives the mounting module, which in turn provides the surface for the cheek weld. Stock portions 16 are varied for the intended use of the stock module. The stock portion 16 may incorporate replaceable and interchangeable portions and additional rails 28, thereby introducing a further element of modularity. The stock module 12 also houses a latching mechanism in hole 26 for adjustable stock embodiments of the module.
