摘要： A proposed blood treatment apparatus includes : a blood treatment unit (8), a pair of fluid pumps (14, 15) and a pair of blood pumps (1a, 1b). The blood treatment unit (8) is configured to receive untreated blood and fresh blood treatment fluid, and emit treated blood and used blood treatment fluid. The fluid pumps (14, 15) are configured to pass blood treatment fluid through the blood treatment unit (8). The blood pumps (1a, 1b) are configured to extract untreated blood from a blood source (S), pass extracted blood through the blood treatment unit (8) and deliver treated blood to a target vessel (T). Additionally, the fluid pumps (14, 15) are configured to control the operation of the blood pumps (1a, 1b) via the blood treatment fluid. Moreover, a flow control means (16a) is configured to control a trans- membrane flow between the blood side (8B) and the a fluid side (8F) of the blood treatment unit (8). Hence, for instance ultrafiltration can be adjusted to a desired level in a very straightforward manner.

The extracorporeal line set (2, 9) is arranged to be connected to a patient. The method comprises the steps of: measuring a first pressure in a flow path (2) in said apparatus, measuring a second pressure in said flow path (2), comparing said first and second pressures, determining a detected extracorporeal line set property based on said pressure comparison. The detected property is at least one of a configuration of a blood access device and a blood tubing set property. A detecting device (20) for detecting a property of an extracorporeal line set (2, 9) in an apparatus (1) for extracorporeal blood treatment is also disclosed, as well as an apparatus (1) for extracorporeal blood treatment, a computer program for performing the method, and a computer-readable medium on which such computer program is stored.

The need for conventional blood sampling and blood analysis upstream and/or downstream of the dialyzer, e.g. during CRRT, is thereby reduced significantly.
