摘要： A knitted convolute protective sleeve is disclosed. The sleeve is knitted from filamentary members to form alternating crests and troughs lengthwise along the sleeve. The crests and troughs may be formed by alternatingly knitting segments from relatively stiff and relatively flexible filamentary members, by interlacing stiffening hoops at spaced intervals lengthwise along a knitted sleeve having a smaller nominal diameter than the hoops, or by varying the knitting parameters, such as loop density and loop length as a function of length along the sleeve.

摘要： Multilayer sleeves (10) for insulating or protecting elongated substrates are disclosed. The sleeves (10) are continuously knitted in different sections (12, 20) integrally joined end to end, the sections being formed of different filamentary members chosen for desired characteristics. The sleeves (10) are formed into the multilayer configuration by reverse folding the sleeves inwardly to place one section coaxially within another. Sleeve ends (14, 16) may be finished with welts (24, 26) to prevent raveling and serve as a clinch on the elongated substrates. Rib knits (35) are used to form insulating air pockets lengthwise along the sleeves to augment the insulating effectiveness.

摘要： A method and assembly for protecting a device connected to a wiring harness is disclosed. The assembly includes a protective shield having a bore for receiving the device and a positioning device. An elongated wiring harness extends from the device being protected and through the bore of the protective shield. The positioning device is formed having a band that surrounds a central space. At least one flexible, resilient finger extends radially inwardly from the band into the central space. At least one of the fingers forcibly engages the harness sleeve to maintain the positioning device and the protective shield in a predetermined protection position along the harness sleeve at least partially surrounding the device being protected.

摘要： An elongated sleeve (12) for protecting elongated substrates is disclosed. The sleeve has a flexible elongated backbone (14) extending lengthwise along the sleeve. A plurality of flexible, resilient ribs (28) extend transversely from the backbone. The ribs ar e biased into a concave, preferably circular shape to define a central space for receiving the substrates. The backbone may be continuous, discontinuous or split and may intersect the ribs at a point spaced from their mid point, defining asymmetrical ribs. One or more layers of material are attached to the ribs forming a covering (22) which defines a lengthwise seam (30) along the ends of the ribs providing access to the central space. The layers may be positioned on either or both inside or outside of the ribs. The layers may provide a reflective surface for thermal protection.

摘要： A wrappable, end fray resistant textile sleeve 10 for protecting elongate members and method of construction thereof is provided. The sleeve includes an elongate wall 14 having warp yarns 16 extending generally parallel to a longitudinal central axis 17 of the sleeve and fill yarns 18 extending circumferentially about the sleeve 10. The warp yarns and the fill yarns are woven in an overlying and underlying weave pattern with one another. The warp yarns 16 are arranged in discrete groups A and B alternating about a circumference of the wall with adjacent groups having a different number of the warp yarns 16. As such, the wall is provided with groups of increased numbers of warp yarns 16 that provide the sleeve with enhanced rigidity and abrasion resistance, while also being provided with groups of decreased numbers of warp yarns 16 that provide the sleeve with enhanced flexibility along the longitudinal central axis 17.
