摘要： A messaging system facilitates communication between users through various messaging channels. The messaging system supports multiple communication channels and includes a messaging module that automatically selects one or more of the messaging channels for delivering a message to a recipient of the message using, for example, a set of policy rules or a trained model. The messaging module may also provide, in a user interface for sending and receiving messages, a visual indication of the selected messaging channel to the sender of the message to provide the user with transparency about how the message will be delivered. Additionally, the message may be delivered via multiple messaging channels, where the messaging module may rescind messages from some of the messaging channels upon receiving a reply from the recipient of the message or other confirmation that the recipient has seen the message via one of the communication channels.

摘要： A process for modifying the surface of a silicon-containing polymer is presented, the process comprising the steps of: forming a reaction mixture comprising the silicon polymer, a polymerization monomer, a free radical initiator system, a salt, and a solvent system, the polymerization monomer comprising a zwitterionic monomer; and polymerizing the monomer in the reaction mixture to form a surface modification polymer on the surface of the silicon-containing polymer. Such a process is useful in controlling the hydrophilicity of a surface, and can be applied to prepare medical devices such as contact lens having a wettable, biocompatible surface.

摘要： Nucleic acid sequence mapping/assembly methods are disclosed. The methods initially map only a contiguous portion of each read to a reference sequence and then extends the mapping of the read at both ends of the mapped contiguous portion until the entire read is mapped (aligned). In various embodiments, a mapping score can be calculated for the read alignment using a scoring function, score (i, j) = M+mx, where M can be the number of matches in the extended alignment, x can be the number of mismatches in the alignment, and m can be a negative penalty for each mismatch. The mapping score can be utilized to rank or choose the best alignment for each read.

Implementation of the technique will conveniently allow a merchant's product website to automatically complete a product launch or withdrawal in the optimal time.

摘要： Compositions containing one or more types of membrane-targeting antimicrobial agents immobilized on a substrate with activity in relevant biological environments, and methods of making and using thereof, are described herein. The antimicrobial agents retain their activity in the presence of blood proteins and/or in vivo due to improved molecular structures which allow for cooperative action of immobilized agents and hydrophilic chemistries which resist non-specific protein adsorption. Suitable molecular structures include branched structures, such as dendrimers and randomly branched polymers. The molecule structures may also include hydrophilic tethers which provide both flexibility and resistance to non-specific protein adsorption. The membrane targeting antimicrobial agent coatings can be applied to a variety of different types of substrates including medical implants such as vascular grafts, orthopedic devices, dialysis access grafts, and catheters; surgical tools, surgical garments; and bandages. The substrates can be composed of metallic materials, ceramics, polymers, fibers, inert materials such as silicon, and combinations thereof. The compositions described herein are substantially non-leaching, resistant to non-specific protein adsorption, and non-hemolytic.
