    • A garment hanger (1) comprises a support portion (7) for at least one item of clothing and a hook portion (9) including clip means (3) having an arm (15) that can be fastened in a closed position to trap and retain a clothes line (5a, b, c) for releasably securing the hanger (1) to the clothes line (5a, b, c). The clip means (3) is provided on a neck section (11) of the hook portion (9) so as to be clear of a head section (13) of the hook portion (9) that can be used to suspend the hanger (1) from a rail in a wardrobe. The neck section (11) is provided with a plurality of recessed portions (17a, b, c) for securing the hanger (1) to clothes lines (5a, b, c) of different thickness (diameter) by locating and retaining the clothes line (5a, b, c) in the appropriately sized recessed portion (17a, b, c).

    • A system for measuring the flight of a projectile, comprising: a projectile comprising an exterior surface and a set of orientation identifiers distributed over the exterior surface, such that, for every orientation of the projectile, there exists, from any fixed perspective, a unique viewable configuration of a sub-set of the identifiers; means for capturing a first image of the surface of the projectile at a first time, the first image including a first configuration of a first sub-set of the orientation identifiers; means for determining the orientation of the projectile from the first configuration; means for capturing a second image of the surface of the projectile at a second time, the second image including a second configuration of a second sub-set of the orientation identifiers; means for determining the orientation of the projectile from the second configuration; and means for determining the rotational velocity of the projectile in flight from its orientation at the first time and its orientation at the second time. Also describes a method of determining the placement of orientation identifiers on the exterior surface of a projectile. A random set of dots or coloured tessellated panels is checked to determine ambiguities in orientation determination, and the set of identifiers is reduced as far as possible in an iterative cycle.

    • A safety device for use with a ladder (1) comprises a pair of support legs (6,7) pivotally connected to the stiles (2,3) of the ladder (1) and a pair of chains (16,17) extending between the support legs (6,7) and the ladder (1). The chains (16,17) are connected to each other via a fail-safe device operable if one of the chains breaks to maintain the support leg connected to the other chain operable. The pivotal connection of the support legs (6,7) may be provided through a hollow rung (4b) of the ladder (1) and the fail-safe device may connect the chains (16,17) through another hollow rung (4a) of the ladder (1).
