摘要： Lithographic printing plates are prepared by imaging and developing negative-working lithographic printing plate precursors that include certain particulate polymeric binders in the photosensitive imageable layer. Such particulate polymeric binders are poly(urethane-acrylic) hybrids. Development is carried out using a working strength developer that includes one or more organic solvents in a total amount of at least 7 weight % and an anionic surfactant in an amount of at least 5 weight %.

摘要： IR-sensitive lithographic printing plate precursors provide a high contrast and stable printout image using an IR radi ati on- sensitive composition. This composition includes: a free radically polymerizable component, an IR absorber, an initiator composition, color-forming compound(s) such as a specific leuco dye, and compound(s) represented by the following Structure (P): wherein X is -0-, -S-, -NH-, or -CH2-, Y is >N- or >CH-, R1 is hydrogen or an alkyl, R2 and R3 are independently halo, thioalkyl, thiophenyl, alkoxy, phenoxy, alkyl, phenyl, thioacetyl, or acetyl, and m and n are independently 0 or an integer of 1 to 4. The printout image exhibits a color contrast between the exposed and non-exposed regions of a ΔΕ greater than 8. A ΔΕ of at least 5 is maintained between the exposed and the non-exposed regions with exposure to white light for at least one hour. These precursors, when IR-exposed, can be developed on-press.

摘要： Lithographic printing plates are provided by imagewise exposing negative-working lithographic printing plate precursors having a negative-working radiation-sensitive imageable layer, followed by contacting with a processing solution that has a pH of at least 7 and up to and including 11. This processing solution also includes component (1) that is a nitrogen-containing base having an atmospheric pressure melting point of at least 40°C; component (2) that is a non-ionic surfactant that independently has an atmospheric pressure melting point, glass transition temperature, or pour point of at least 40°C; component (3) that is a hydroxy-containing solution promoter; and component (4) that is a hydrophilic surface protective compound. The method is carried out in a manner such that the exposed and processed precursor is not further treated with any liquid (such as gumming or rinsing solution) between processing and mounting onto a printing press.

The initiator composition comprises an iodonium tetraaryl borate that is represented by the following formula (I): wherein Ar is independently unsubstituted phenyl or naphthyl groups, or substituted phenyl or naphthyl groups each having one or more electron-donating substituents; and R is a linear or branched organic group comprising 0 to 3 oxygen atoms and 2 to 5 carbon atoms, provided that R is directly attached to the oxygen atom with one of the carbon atoms.

摘要： IR-sensitive lithographic printing plate precursors provide a stable print-out image using a unique IR radiation-sensitive composition. This IR radiation- sensitive composition includes: a) free radically polymerizable component; an b) IR radiation absorber; c) an initiator composition; a d) borate compound; and a e) compound capable of forming a colored boronic complex during or after exposure of the infrared radi ati on- sensitive image-recording layer to infrared radiation. The resulting print-out image exhibits an excellent color contrast between the exposed and non-exposed regions. After IR imaging, these precursors can be developed off-press or on-press.

These precursors have a negative-working imageable layer that has a unique polymeric binder comprising a polymeric backbone and further comprising at least (a) and (b) pendant groups distributed in random order along the polymeric backbone. The (a) pendant groups are ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable groups, and the (b) pendant groups are defined by Structures (I), (II), and (III) described in the disclosure.
