摘要： In accordance with the present invention, novel methods and compositions including the enzyme subtilisin A or including the combination of an enzyme such as subtilisin A and one or more pharmaceutical agents, e.g. antibiotics, are disclosed. Topical formulations of subtilisin A have been found to have enhanced stability over prior art subtilisin formulations. Debridement activity of enzymes such as subtilisin A, subtilisin, bromelain and the like is enhanced when combined with one or more antibiotics. The enzymatic formulations according to this invention are preferably non-aqueous, and the debridement provided by these and other enzyme formulations is enhanced when used under an occlusive hydrocolloid-containing dressing.

摘要： The present invention is based in part on the novel observation that two different types of nuclear receptors, retinoic acid receptors (RAR) and thyroid receptors (TR) dimerize with an RX receptor (RXR) to form a heterodimer which is capable of binding to retinoic acid response elements (RARE) or thyroid receptor response elements (TRE) at physiological conditions. Based on this observation, the present invention provides novel heterodimeric proteins, methods of identifying agents capable of binding the heterodimers of the present invention, methods of identifying DNA sequences capable of being bound by the heterodimers and methods to identify RA metabolic enzymes and proteins which are required for the activation function of nuclear receptors.

摘要： In accordance with the present invention novel polyurethane PSAs containing water soluble polymer additives have enhanced water uptake. The water soluble polymer additives suitable for use herein have a solubility parameter in poorly hydrogen-binding solvents (e.g., hexane, cyclohexane and the like) in the range of from 8-10. The water soluble polymers must also be free from moieties which will react with isocyanates. Such PSAs retain their transparency and peel strength characteristics and can still be employed as relatively thin films (i.e., 2-100 mils) while exhibiting only minimal swelling when in contact with moist environments.

摘要： Ischemia or edema of the retina or optic nerve results in retinal dysfunction. This retinal dysfunction can be associated with the activation of calcium channels. The prophylactic or therapeutic administration of compounds to block these processes can ameliorate or prevent retinal dysfunction. These compounds include the dihydropyrimidones, benzazepine and benzothiazepine derivative classes selected of calcium channel antagonists. Therapeutic treatment with compounds include dihydropyrimidones and benzazepines and benzothiazepine derivatives as calcium channel antagonists. Such compounds exhibit a prophylactic effect to ischemia and edema of the retina or optic nerve.

The compositions include a biotinylated biomolecule, a biomolecule protectant, a buffer, a bulking agent selected from one or more water soluble, nonionic polymers and preferably a terminal sterilization protectant. They have applicability in any case wherein avidin/biotin technology is used, and are particularly important as compositions containing a thrombin-like enzyme. The preparation of a fibrin monomer and fibrin monomer-based fibrin sealants are an example wherein avidin/biotin technology is used and methods of providing such monomers are also disclosed.
