    • A watergel explosive composition is described which contains an oxidiser salt, a sensitiser, a thickener, a crosslinking agent, a fuel and less than 8 %, by mass, of the composition of water. The explosive composition is cap sensitive in packages or cartridges having a diameter of about 26 mm or less at temperatures below about 5 DEG C when detonated with a standard number 6 strength detonator. The explosive composition does not require a supplementary sensitisor or a perchlorate salt to achieve this cap sensitivity. A method of producing the explosive composition by separately preparing a thickened aqueous phase and a dry phase, and allowing the thickened phase to stand for a period of time before the mixing of the two phases, as well as explosive paper cartridge containing the watergel explosive composition, are also described.

    • A labelling apparatus comprises a printing unit and at least one printing label. The printing unit includes a heatable printing head for printing erasable indiciae such as pricing information on a zone of thermo-chromic film defined on the label. A heatable erasing head is provided for erasing the pricing indiciae. A barcode reader on the printing unit reads a barcode located on the label alongside the thermo-chromic zone. The label also includes pictorial or written representations of an item of stock on a shelf. The barcode is read by the printing unit and updated pricing information stored in the printing unit is then downloaded onto the thermo-chromic film via the printing head.

    • A goalpost comprises a frame (10) on which is located a net (38).     • A vehicle security system comprises a main control circuit (10) and first and second enabling/disabling circuits (39, 45) linked to the control circuit by means of first and second fibre optic cables (31, 34). The enabling/disabling circuits may be arranged to control a solenoid-operated fuel valve (46) and a starter motor (42) of the vehicle. First and second coded infrared signals are transmitted from the control circuit to the enabling/disabling circuits, and the enabling/disabling circuits are maintained in an enabled mode only on continuous receipt of the coded infrared signals, with the break in transmission of the signals causing the enabling/disabling circuits to become disabled. A remote keypad (12) is provided for generating a coded enabling signal for receipt at the control circuit, which in turn generates the first and second coded enabling signals. Door and ignition sensors (18, 22) are provided for sensing the turning on of the vehicle or the opening of the vehicle door, and logic circuitry is arranged to selectively arm, disarm or immobilise the vehicle, depending on the condition of the vehicle door and ignition sensors, with the armed vehicle being arranged to become immobilised on receipt (60) of a remote disabling signal.

    • An abrasive blasting apparatus comprises a hopper (12) for an abrasive medium such as sodium bicarbonate. The hopper vents to atmosphere and has a lowermost abrasive media outlet (22). A control valve assembly (24) communicates with the outlet, and includes an ambient air inlet port (36), a suction outlet port (54) and an adjustable three-way valve member (24) for allowing selective communication between the inlet and outlet ports. A spray gun assembly (58) is connected to the suction outlet port (54) via a suction hose (52). The three-way valve member is arranged simultaneously to adjust the sizes of both the media inlet and the ambient inlet ports whilst communicating with the suction outlet port, thereby controlling the flow of abrasive media and air through the suction outlet port. The spray gun assembly (58) includes a housing having a venturi chamber (86) into which the suction outlet hose (52) is connected. The venturi chamber is in turn coupled to a high pressure air hose (44) which creates a venturi effect so as to propel the media from an outlet nozzle (92) via the suction outlet hose.
