    • A seat post assembly has a lightweight bridge (106) that snaps between tubular portions of a seat rail (108), where the bridge has ridges on opposing sides. A clamping mechanism (104) is connected to a seat post (102), where the clamping mechanism has two opposing clamps (116) and a single bolt (126) that attaches the clamps to the seat post. The clamps each have a curved groove (118) matching a curved ridge (112) at the base of the seat post. This allows the seat to be adjusted in angle. Each clamp also has a semi- cylindrical groove (120) that engages "with the tubular portions of the seat rail, where the upper portion of the groove has an opening (130) that engages with the ridges of the bridge to allow the clamping mechanism and bridge to move together and adjust the seat in a fore and aft position. An opening (124) is provided in both clamps for the bolt, where one portion of the bolt has a notch, and one opening has a groove to secure the bolt' when tightening or loosening the bolt.

    • A clipless mechanism for a four-sided clipless bicycle pedal is made by a stamping and welding process. The stamping is preferably a progressive stamping process. The stamped parts include two components, an inner wing and an outer wing. The two stamped components are generally similar in shape to each other, but the inner wing fits within the outer wing. Each part is first stamped as a flat pattern by a progressive die. Each part then has radii stamped into the edges by the second station of the progressive die. Next, each part is partially folded by the third station of the progressive die. Then each part is folded completely by the fourth station of the progressive die. The actual number of steps may vary depending upon the material chosen, the thickness of the material and the design of the stamping tool. Then each part is welded closed and the resulting rectangular wings are assemblied in juxtaposed orthogonal relation to provide four shoe cleat engaging receptacles.

    • A pedal with a body that has two plates that can be easily removed or displaced to access the inner surfaces of the pedal and the backside of traction pins. In this way, traction pins can be replaced even after the pins have been worn out or broken. Also, the plates can be made out of a harder, more durable, more expensive material than the material of the body, because the plates are typically subjected to the most impact and abrasion because of the shape and location of the plates. Alternatively, the plates can be made of a relatively inexpensive material because the plates are easy to replace if worn or damaged. Also disclosed is a system for re-greasing the inside of the pedal including a screw-in end cap that can be removed, and a slot down the inside of the body that allows grease to flow around a sealed bearing.

    • A hollow bicycle crank arm has a central tubular portion to reduce weight and two mounting-boss portions for mounting a crank spindle and pedal during use. A crank arm base is forged or cast with a relatively thin back and sides, preferably out of aluminum or magnesium. The crank arm bare has a generally C-shaped cross section. An arm cover has a top and sides and is made from stamped steel or titanium. The cover is placed over the open crank arm base to enclose a significant hollow section. The stamped arm cover does not require any threading or welding. It can be made using a very inexpensive stamping process. The crank arm can be made using relatively inexpensive traditional manufacturing processes such as die casting or forging.
