    • ABSTRACT A mixed reality system which reduces positional shifts between a real space picture and a virtual space picture with an inexpensive arrangement is disclosed. The mixed reality system according to this invention detects the viewpoint position and direction of an observer and the position and direction of another region of the observer by using reception results on signals output from a transmitter. In this mixed reality system, the transmitter is positioned such that the distance between the transmitter and a receiver used for the measurement of the viewpoint position and direction of the observer becomes shorter than the distance between the transmitter and a receiver used for the measurement of the position and direction of another region of the observer. This makes it possible to reduce measurement errors of the line-of-sight position and direction which are more dominant over positional shifts.
