    • The invention concerns microgel obtainable by polymerisation in the aqueous phase of a monomer mixture of at least one ethylenically monofunctional compound selected from the group of vinyl compounds, alkyl esters of acrylic or methacrylic acid, hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylates and vinyl acetate, and at least one ethylenically di- or multifunctional compound selected from the group of diacrylates, triacrylates and/or (meth)acrylic acid esters of polyfunctional alcohols. Polymerisation takes place in the presence of a polycondensation product of a polycarboxylic acid, polyhydroxycarboxylic acid, hydroxypolycarboxylic acid and/or polyhydroxypolycarboxylic acid with polyol. The invention also discloses the use of the microgel for aqueous or solvent-containing coating compounds, in particular for aqueous or solvent containing base coatings, (metal)-effect base coatings or varnishes in the motor industry.

    • The invention pertains to aqueous coating agents composed of an aqueous polymer dispersion that has polyester and acrylate base and is produced by radical polymerization of at least (a) a (meth)acrylic acid ester and (b) an ethylenically unsaturated, at least monofunctional acid and, optionally, (c) an ethylenically unsaturated monomer other than (a) or (b), or mixtures thereof, with a radically polymerizable polyester resin, of an amino acid as cross-linking agent, and of a water-soluble and /or water-emulsive polyalcohol and, optionally, common lacquer additives. The invention also pertains to the use of these aqueous coating agents as transparent lacquer for multicoat lacquering.
