    • There is an apparatus for the generation of mechanical or electrical energy. The apparatus includes at least one buoyancy chamber (1) slidable within a fluid reservoir along a drive path 8 defined between a lower gas charging position (10) and an elevated gas release position (13). There is a source of pressurised gas (11) to charge the chamber at the lower position and a discharge (7) to vent the gas from the chamber (1) at the elevated position. In operation of the apparatus the chamber reciprocates between the lower and elevated positions to generate energy in accordance with cyclic charging and venting of gas from the chamber.

    • There is a generator for generating usable energy from reciprocating liquid flow between chambers of unequal pressure and liquid levels. The generator includes at least two chambers partially filled with a liquid. There is a first gas space (3) above the higher liquid level (2) in one of the chambers which is at a greater pressure than a second gas space (5) above the lower liquid level (4) in the other of the chambers. There is a valved conduit means (12,13) connecting the higher and lower liquid levels (2,4) in a manner whereby reciprocating liquid flow occurs between the chambers to generate usable energy at a power take off (16,17 ).
