摘要： The invention generally relates to medical imaging systems that instantly and automatically detect borders. Embodiments of the invention provide an imaging system that automatically detects a border at a location within a vessel in response only to navigational input moving the image to that location. In some embodiments, systems and methods of the invention operate such that when a doctor moves an imaging catheter to a new location with in tissue, the system essentially instantly finds, and optionally displays, the border(s), calculates an occlusion, or both.

摘要： This invention relates generally to the detection of objects, such as stents, within intraluminal images using principal component analysis and/or regional co variance descriptors. In certain aspects, a training set of pre-defined intraluminal images known to contain an object is generated. The principal components of the training set can be calculated in order to form an object space. An unknown input intraluminal image can be obtained and projected onto the object space. From the projection, the object can be detected within the input intraluminal image. In another embodiment, a covariance matrix is formed for each pre-defined intraluminal image known to contain an object. An unknown input intraluminal image is obtained and a covariance matrix is computed for the input intraluminal image. The covariances of the input image and each image of the training set are compared in order to detect the presence of the object within the input intraluminal image.

摘要： One or more devices, systems, methods and storage mediums for performing common path optical coherence tomography (OCT) with a controlled reference signal and efficient geometric coupling are provided. Examples of such applications include imaging, evaluating and diagnosing biological objects, such as, but not limited to, for Gastro-intestinal, cardio and/or ophthalmic applications, and being obtained via one or more optical instruments, such as, but not limited to, optical probes (e.g., common path probes), common path catheters, common path capsules and common path needles (e.g., a biopsy needle). The common path system and method involve a reference reflection or a reference plane that is at least one of: (i) disposed in the collimation field or path; and (ii) is perpendicular (or normal) or substantially perpendicular (or substantially normal) to light propagation. Beam shaping optics to properly image luminal or other hollow structures or objects are also provided.

At least one of the apparatuses includes an illumination unit having two or more spectrally dispersive gratings positioned, for example, on different planes or on the same plane but having grating vectors at an angle to each other such that bands of spectrally dispersed light propagating from the gratings propagate on different planes.
