    • The present invention relates to cyanopyridine compounds of the general formula (I) and to the agriculturally useful salts thereof and to compositions comprising such compounds. The invention also relates to the use of the cyanopyridine compounds, of their salts or of compositions comprising them for combating animal pests. In formula (I) n is 0, 1 or 2; X is N, N-O or C-R 4 ; Y is N, N-O or C-R 5 ; Z is N, N-O or C-R 6 ; with the proviso that one of the variables X, Y and Z is N or NO and the other two variables are optionally substituted carbon atoms; R 1 , R 2 are, independently of one another, selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, C(=O)-R 7 , optionally subsitutetd C 1 -C 10 -alkyl, C 2 -C 6 -alkenyl, C 2 -C 10 -alkinyl, C 1 -C 10 -alkoxy or C 3 -C 10 -cycloalkyl, or R 1 and R 2 together with the adjacent nitrogen form a 3 to 10-membered ring, optionally substituted by 1, 2 or 3 radicals selected from C 1 -C 5 -alkyl and halogen, wherein the ring may contain, in addition to the nitrogen and carbon ring members, 1, 2 or 3 heteroatoms as ring members selected from the group consisting of nitrogen, oxygen, sulfur, a group SO, SO 2 or N-R 8 ; R 3 is hydrogen, nitro, cyano, azido, amino, halogen, sulfonylamino, sulfenylamino, sulfinylamino, C(=O)R 9 , C 1 -C 6 -alkyl, C 2 -C 6 -alkenyl, C 2 -C 6 -alkinyl, C 3 -C 8 - cycloalkyl, C 1 -C 6 -alkoxy, C 1 -C 6 -alkylthio, (C 1 -C 6 -alkyl)amino, di(C 1 -C 6 -alkyl)amino, C 1 -C 6 -alkylsulfinyl, or C 1 -C 6 -alkylsulfonyl, R 4 , R 5 and R 6 are independently of one another selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, cyano, azido, nitro, C 1 -C 6 -alkyl, C 3 -C 8 -cycloalkyl, C 1 -C 4 -haloalkyl, C 1 -C 4 -alkoxy, C 1 -C 4 -alkylthio, C 1 -C 4 -alkylsulfinyl, C 1 -C 4 -alkylsulfonyl, C 1 -C 4 -haloalkoxy, C 1 -C 4 -haloalkylthio, C 2 -C 6 -alkenyl, C 2 -C 6 -alkinyl, (C 1 -C 4 -alkoxy)carbonyl, amino, (C 1 -C 4 -alkyl)amino, di(C 1 -C 4 -alkyl)amino, aminocarbonyl, (C 1 -C 4 -alkyl)aminocarbonyl, di(C 1 -C 4 -alkyl)aminocarbonyl, hydroxysulfonyl, sulfonylamino, sulfenylamino, sulfinylamino and C(=O)-R 10 .

    • The invention provides 3-amino-1,2-benzisothiazole compounds of formula (I) wherein n, R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 and A are defined as in the description. The invention provides further agricultural compositions comprising an amount of at least one compound of the formula (I) or an enantiomer, diasteromer or salt thereof; the use of a compound of formula (I) or an enantiomer, diasteromer or salt thereof for combating animal pests; a method of combating animal pests which comprises contacting the animal pests, their habit, breeding ground, food supply, plant, seed, soil, area, material or environment in which the animal pests are growing or may grow, or the materials, plants, seeds, soils, surfaces or spaces to be protected from animal attack or infestation with a pesticidally effective amount of at least one compound of the formula (I) or an enantiomer, diasteromer or salt thereof; a method for protecting crops from attack or infestation by animal pests, which comprises contacting a crop with a pesticidally effective amount of at least one compound of the formula (I) or an enantiomer, diasteromer or salt thereof; a method for the protection of seeds from soil insects and of the seedlings' roots and shoots from soil and foliar insects comprising contacting the seeds before sowing and/or after pregermination with at least one compound of the formula (I), or the enantiomers, diastereomers or salts thereof; and seeds comprising a compound of the formula I or an enantiomer, diasteromer or salt thereof.
