摘要： An apparatus and method for tunneling a distal portion (16d) of a multilumen catheter tube (16) in a patient is disclosed. The apparatus includes a connector (12). The proximal end (12p) includes a first coupling portion (36) for selective connection to a distal end of the multilumen catheter tube, and the distal end (12d) of the connector includes a second coupling portion (38). The connector and the second end (52) of the trocar (14) are configured such that they are substantially coaxially aligned with the multilumen catheter tube when the first coupling portion of the connector is selectively joined with the distal end of the multilumen cathter tube and the second end of the trocar is selectively engaged with the second coupling portion of the connector. A method of reverse tunneling a multilumen catheter tube using such an apparatus is also disclosed.

摘要： A multi-lumen catheter (10) and method for inserting same into a patient is disclosed. The catheter may include a single-lumen flush tube portion (14), the flush tube portion having a proximal end being connected to the distal end of the catheter tube such that the single lumen of the flush tube is in fluid communication with each of the lumens of the catheter tube. A connector (12) is provided having a longitudinal cavity (22), a coupling portion (24) near the distal end of the connector, and is in fluid communication with the lumen or lumens in the catheter tube. The coupling portion (24) of the cavity of the connector is configured to receive a mating coupling portion of a medical device such as a trocar. The catheter device facilitates the subcutaneous tunneling of the catheter after catheter tip placement, and simultaneous fluid communication with all of the catheter lumens.
