摘要： Methods and devices for sculpting bones, particularly in preparation for implanting prosthetic devices to replace articulating bone joint surfaces. Improved bone removal devices including burr mills driven by gears and loop drives are provided. Reciprocating cutters and belt cutters are also provided. Some devices have either integral or removable expandable portions to vary the force and bone resection depth. Devices can have irrigation ports and plenums to remove bone fragments. Some cutters are dual cutters, adapted to remove bone in two or more regions, such as the knee joint, simultaneously.

摘要： A system and method for placing an implant into or onto supporting bone, or between adjacent bones, without impaction is disclosed. The system includes an implant, a distracter, and a sleeve. Optionally, the invention includes an alignment guide, a surgical navigational tracker, and a bone displacer. The sleeve is structured to interpose the implant and supporting bone and provide a differential engagement force between the sleeve-implant interface and the sleeve-bone interface to preferentially move the implant into, onto or between supporting bone structures.

The instrumentation of the invention sculpts the articular surface of a first bone that normally articulates in a predetermined manner with a second bone. The implant system is comprised of implants that provide intraoperative surgical options for articular constraint and facilitate proper alignment and orientation of the joint to restore kinematics as defined by the individual patient anatomy.

摘要： A method and apparatus for minimally invasive total joint replacement. The method involves sculpting the articular surface of a second bone that normally articulates with a first bone by attaching a bone sculpting tool (22) directly or indirectly to the first bone with the tool (22) in bone sculpting engagement with the articular surface of the second bone, and then sculpting the articular surface of the second bone with the joint reduced and moving one bone with respect to the other. An implant (60) placed to replaced the articular surface of the second bone using an impaction device (102) directly or indirectly attached to the first bone, wherein the force to place the implant (60) is reacted by the second bone and the first bone.

摘要： The present invention discloses a stretchable clamp device for use in a human to clamp together fastening portions of an orthopaedic apparatus comprising a clamp body (10) having an elastic first clamp portion (12) adjacent to an elastic second clamp portion (14) and at least a portion of the first clamp portion (12) and a portion of the second clamp portion (14) comprise an elastic material, wherein the first clamp portion (12) has a first longitudinal axis, a first secondary axis and a first tertiary axis, each orthogonal to the others, and a first hollow center (20) open at both ends with the openings of the first hollow center aligned along the first longitudinal axis and the second clamp portion (12) has a second longitudinal axis, a second secondary axis and a second tertiary axis, each orthogonal to the others, and a second hollow (20) center open at both ends with the openings of the second hollow center aligned along the second longitudinal axis, and a first set of compression surfaces (16, 18) aligned generally at opposing ends of the first secondary axis, and a second set of compression surfaces aligned generally at opposing ends of the second tertiary axis and orthogonal to the first secondary axis, such that applying a compression force directed between the first set of compression surfaces (16, 18) deforms the first clamp portion (12) elongating the first hollow center (20) along the first tertiary axis, opening the first hollow center (20) sufficient to receive a fastening portion of the orthopaedic device and where removal of the compression force causes the first clamp portion (12) to contract onto and releasably clamp the fastening portion, and such that applying a compression force directed between the second set of compression surfaces deforms the second clamp portion (14) elongating the second hollow center (22) along the second secondary axis, opening the second hollow center (22) sufficient to receive another fastening portion of the orthopaedic device and where removal of the compression force causes the second clamp portion (14) to contract onto and releasably clamp the other fastening portion.
