    • The present invention relates to a method pertaining to the combustion of a fuel with an oxidant in a heating furnace, wherein the fuel and the oxidant are delivered to a burner head. The invention is characterized in that in a first method step fuel and oxidant are caused to be emitted from the burner head (1; 10) in the close proximity of each other so that combustion will essentially take place close to and at a small distance outward of the burner head until there is reached in the furnace space a temperature that exceeds the spontaneous combustion temperature of the fuel; and in that in a second method step the fuel and the oxidant are caused to be emitted instead from the burner head (1; 10) at a mutual distance apart so that combustion will essentially take place at a distance from the burner head corresponding to at least the diameter of the burner head and outwards of the burner.

The invention is characterised in that the first inlet (13a) for oxidant is caused to be arranged in the form of a first opening arranged by the inlet opening, through which the oxidant is caused to flow out, through a burner pipe (16) and out through a burner orifice (17) to a combustion space (18), so that the oxidant by ejector action causes the fuel to be conveyed through the burner pipe and out through the burner orifice (17), and in that water vapour is added to the oxi¬ dant before the oxidant reacts with the fuel.

    • A method and an apparatus for heat-treatment of materials, preferably metals, are provided. The method comprises the following steps: providing and maintaining a flame by supplying a burner with fuel and gas containing at least 80 percent by volume oxygen; creating an oxygen-hot exhaust mixture by recirculating exhausts from the flame to the gas containing oxygen by means of an ejector effect; mixing the oxygen-exhaust mixture and the fuel; and providing a secondary recirculation by recirculating exhausts from the flame to the oxygen-exhaust-fuel mixture. The method and apparatus allow for extremely low NOx emissions and high efficiency, resulting in an environmentally friendly and at the same time cost effective process.
