摘要： Devices, tools and methods for occluding fluid flow between two walls of tissue in a patient. Two walls of tissue are compressed together with sufficient compressive force to prevent fluid flow between the two walls, while ensuring that the compressive force is not so great as to cause tissue necrosis. The devices, tools and methods may be carried out using minimally invasive surgical techniques, such as in reduced-access surgical sites. Devices, tools and methods are provided for occluding an atrial appendix.

摘要： Assemblies and methods for carrying out a procedure on an organ or tissue in a closed or restricted space surgical site. A low profile head is configured and dimensioned to be delivered to a target location on the organ or tissue through an opening in a patient and having a contact surface configured to contact a surface of the organ or tissue at the target location. An elongated member extends proximally from the low profile head and has sufficient length so that a proximal end portion of the elongated member extends out of the opening in the patient when the contact surface of the head contacts the organ or tissue at the target location. The elongated member has a lumen extending longitudinally therethrough. An endoscope is dimensioned to be received in the lumen and has an elongated shaft of sufficient length such that when a distal tip of the endoscope extends into the head, and the contact surface contacts the organ or tissue at the target location, a proximal end portion of the elongated shaft of the endoscope extends out of the opening in the patient.

摘要： A surgical apparatus and methods for severing and welding tissue, in particular blood vessels, including an elongated shaft (36) having a pair of relatively movable jaws (40, 42) at a distal end thereof. A first heating element (46) on one of the jaws heats up to a first temperature and forms a welded region within the tissue, while a second heating element (48) on one of the jaws heats up to a second temperature and severs the tissue within the welded region. A control handle (38) includes controls for opening and closing the jaws, and may include an actuator for sending current through the first and second heating elements. The first and second heating elements may be electrically connected in series, and the first heating element may be bifurcated such that it conducts about one half of the current as the second heating element.
