摘要： An erosion resistant mounting material comprises: a mounting material comprising inorganic fibers and having a peripheral edge; and a layer of reinforcing composition inwardly disposed on the inorganic fibers along the peripheral edge. The reinforcing composition comprises at least one compound represented by the formula: (Mm+)d ((ZpOq(OH)r)n-)e • (H2O)f M represents a cationic species other than H; O represents oxygen; Z represents boron or phosphorus; f is a real number greater than or equal to zero; d, n, q, and r are integers greater than or equal to zero; e, m, and p are integers greater than or equal to one; and d times m equals e times n. The mounting material is useful in pollution control devices. A method of making the mounting material is also disclosed.

摘要： A component of an exhaust system for an internal combustion engine. The component comprises an exhaust system structure (20) having an interior (22) through which exhaust gases flow and an exterior (21), and a thermal insulating wrap (10) for thermally insulating at least a portion of the exterior (21) of the exhaust system structure (20). The thermal insulating wrap (10) comprises an aqueous mixture comprising an inorganic binder and inorganic filler particles, and a fabric comprising inorganic fibers. The fabric is impregnated with the aqueous mixture so as to form a pliable binder wrap (11). The pliable binder wrap (11) is wound completely around at least a portion of the exhaust system structure (20). It can be desirable for the component to further comprise at least one thermal insulator comprising inorganic fibers, where the thermal insulator is disposed between the pliable binder wrap (11) and the exterior 21 of the exhaust system structure (20).

摘要： A repositionable mounting material comprises a mounting material having a major surface and comprising inorganic fibers. A layer of repositionable pressure-sensitive adhesive inwardly disposed along at least a portion of the first major surface. The layer of repositionable pressure-sensitive adhesive comprises: adhesive microspheres having a first particle size distribution with at least one mode, each of which has a D50 of at least 30 micrometers; and binder particles having a second particle size distribution with at least one mode, wherein each mode has a D50 that is less than 10 micrometers, and wherein at least one of the at least one modes has a D50 below one micrometer. The repositionable mounting material is useful in manufacture of pollution control devices. Methods of making the foregoing are also disclosed.

The mixture is dried so as to be rigid enough to maintain the shape of the fabric (10). The heat-shielding cover covers an exhaust system part, where the heat-shielding cover has a simple structure, is less likely to be, or is not, subject to warping in the place of installation due to thermal expansion and contraction of the heat-shielding cover, and moreover is less, or is not, susceptible to galvanic corrosion, even as a result of direct installation using an installation member.
