    • A novel aromatic amine derivative having an asymmetric structure represented by the following general formula (1); and an organic electroluminescent element comprising a cathode and an anode and, sandwiched therebetween, one or more organic thin-film layers comprising at least a luminescent layer, wherein at least one of the organic thin-film layers comprises the aromatic amine derivative either alone or as a component of a mixture. The molecules of the derivative are less apt to crystallize, and an improved yield in producing the organic electroluminescent element is attained. The element has a long life. The aromatic amine derivative realizes the element. A-L-B (1) In the general formula (1), L is, e.g., a connecting group comprising (un)substituted arylene having 5-50 nucleus-constituting atoms; and A and B are respective diarylamino groups represented by the following general formulae (2) and (3), provided that A and B are not the same, the total number of carbon atoms in the aromatic amine derivative of the general formula (1), excluding the substituent(s), is 55 or more, and Ar 1 and Ar 2 in the general formulae (2) and (3) each independently is (un)substituted aryl having 5-50 nucleus-constituting atoms.
