摘要： A process for producing (meth)acrylic acid or a (meth)acrylic acid derivative which comprises a reaction step comprising the vapor-phase catalytic oxidation of propylene, propane, or isobutylene and optionally further includes a reaction step comprising esterification and in which a mixture having high boiling points (hereinafter referred to as high-boiling mixture) containing a Michael addition product is decomposed with a pyrolysis reactor to recover the (meth)acrylic acid compound, characterized in that the liquid reaction mixture residue present in the pyrolysis reactor is discharged while forcibly causing a circumferential-direction flow in the liquid reaction mixture residue within the pyrolysis reactor. In the method in which a high-boiling mixture containing a product of Michael addition of a (meth)acrylic acid compound is pyrolyzed to recover a valuable substance, the residue resulting from the pyrolysis can be fed from the pyrolysis reactor to a storage tank without causing clogging. A long-term continuous operation is hence possible.

In the process for (meth)acrylic acid production, which includes a purification step in which a (meth)acrylic−acid−containing reaction mixture to be purified is supplied to a distillation column and distilled, a cut operation in which (meth)acrylic acid is produced at a rate lower by &agr;% than the (meth)acrylic acid production rate in the ordinary operation is conducted while regulating the liquid/gas flow rate in the distillation column so as to be at least (100−&agr;/2)% of that in the ordinary operation.
