    • A method of polishing a substrate comprises the steps of: providing the substrate which contains titanium nitride and titanium; providing a chemical mechanical polishing composition which contains: water, an oxidizing agent, a linear polyalkylenimine polymer, a colloidal silica abrasive with a positive surface charge, a carboxylic acid, a source of ferric ions and an optional pH adjusting agent; providing a chemical mechanical polishing pad with a polishing surface; creating dynamic contact at an interface between the polishing pad and the substrate; dispensing the polishing composition onto the polishing surface at or near the interface between the polishing pad and the substrate; and polishing away at least some of the titanium nitride and at least some of the titanium. This polishing method has a high removal rate of titanium and titanium nitride.

    • A grip for a tattoo machine includes an outer gripping surface and a first part of a two-part needle cartridge fastening mechanism. The first part of the needle cartridge fastening mechanism is a channel and lateral undercut in a portion of the grip that is adapted to receive a protruding second part of the needle cartridge fastening mechanism when the needle cartridge is inserted into the grip axially and then rotated. The grip comprises a cap that includes the portion of the grip that has the channel and the lateral undercut. A primary grip includes the rest of the grip not included in the cap, and is fixable with the cap. Alternately, the first part of the needle cartridge fastening mechanism is a threaded aperture of the grip that is adapted to receive a threaded second part of the needle cartridge fastening mechanism.

    • A method and apparatus for a mobile personal computer (MPC) system with built-in scanner. In one embodiment, the method includes detection of the insertion of an item within a paper feed tail exposed on an exterior surface of the MPC system. In one embodiment, if insertion is detected when the MPC system is in a sleep state, a disabled scanner device is enabled to scan the item to capture an item image. Subsequently, the item image may be processed to identify the item as, for example, a business card. In one embodiment, an item image may be further processed to extract contact information from the item image. In one embodiment, when item insertion is performed during a sleep state, subsequent to completion of extraction of the contact information, components of the system awoken during the sleep state may resume the sleep state.
