    • A delivery device (10) for a collapsible heart valve includes an operating handle (20), including a frame (30) defining a movement space therein, a carriage assembly (40) moveable within the movement space, and a first resheathing lock (44) having a locked position and an unlocked position. The delivery device further includes a catheter assembly, including a first shaft (26) around which a valve receiving compartment (23) is defined, the first shaft being fixedly connected to one of the frame or the carriage assembly, and a distal sheath (24) operatively connected to the carriage assembly. The distal sheath is moveable between a closed condition adapted to maintain the valve in the compartment and an open condition adapted to fully deploy the valve. With the resheathing lock in the locked position, the distal sheath is unable to move to the open condition to fully deploy the valve.

    • A system for recording, analyzing, editing, and playback of scents is disclosed. A scent can be sampled and represented in various manners, such as by reference to an activation pattern of olfactory receptors (determined experimentally or by using computer programs), description of chemical structure, description of its characteristics by a panel of human subjects, or its pattern of interaction with an artificial scent-sensing device (an "artificial nose" device). A scent emitter having a set of chemicals which can be volatilized is disclosed for re-creation of the scents from the stored scent representation. The scent representation can be transmitted over computer networks, such as the Internet, for re-creation at remote locations, and can be stored for re-creation of the scent at times different from the time of sampling of the scent. The system finds applications in advertisements which may appear on pages on the World Wide Web, in re-creating scents for forensic or quality control analysis, as enhancements to virtual reality simulations, custom creation of scents by scent designers, and other uses.

    • The invention includes a defense against flooding, with a flexible, outer shell, with absorption holes, and, inside the outer shell, one or more water-absorbing components that expand when absorbing water. The outer shell can be hydrophobic. The water-absorbing components can be compressed wood pellets. Also inside the outer shell can be a hydrophobic, but oleophilic, inner component that absorbs hydrocarbon molecules penetrating through the absorption holes. The water-absorbing components do not absorb hydrocarbons in some embodiments. In the first embodiment, the compressed wood pellets can be discarded easily after they have absorbed water and been expanded. In the first embodiment, the hydrophobic outer shell and oleophilic inner component are both made of polypropylene. Several specialized versions of the sandless sandbag, called hereafter a "FLOODBAG", and also methods of using the FLOODBAG, a replacement for sand bags are also included in the invention, as is a method for making specialized FLOODBAGs.
